  2. 'Chelsea had done everything right'published at 21:23 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-1 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-3)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's such a shame because apart from the blunt forward end of the pitch they've done everything right. You have to say the two chances in the first half were guilt-edged chances.

There was always going to be a chance of a break away, though.

Chelsea 0-1 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-1)

Trevoh Chalobah will not want to see a replay of the goal. He went in for a sliding tackle and missed. The rest is history. Real are champions of Europe for a reason.

  6. 'A superb break'published at 21:20 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-1 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-3)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was only a matter of time before the pressure on the Real Madrid defence started to tell but then they go down the line with that superb break.

Chalobah doesn't win it and then Chelsea are playing catch-up. Five yards out he can't miss.

There's a few Real Madrid fans knocking about and they jumped up and the scarves went up in the air. The Chelsea fans are politely asking them to leave the stand I think.

GOAL - Chelsea 0-1 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-3)published at 21:17 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

    Rodrygo

That's Real Madrid at their counter-attacking best!

They've been under pressure since half-time but they surely deliver a knockout blow in this tie as Rodrygo scores from close range after an assist by Vinícius Junior.

Stamford Bridge is silent except for the pocket of travelling fans from Spain.

  8. Lampard cannot believe itpublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg 0-2)

    Alex Howell

Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole cannot believe Militao has not been shown a second yellow card for bringing down Chalobah.

They’re letting the fourth official know about it.

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg 0-2)

This is a cracking game and the tackles are flying.

Toni Kroos goes in late on a Chelsea player and the atmosphere cranks up another notch.

Now a chance for Kai Havertz but it's straight at Thibaut Courtois.

  10. 'Referee got it spot on'published at 21:15 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-2)

    Lee Dixon
Former Arsenal and England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

He's got no decision to make. I don't think it's a yellow card at all. It was good play, he was running away towards the corner flag.

I think the referee got it absolutely spot on.

Eder Militao, who is on a booking, fouls Trevoh Chalobah and Frank Lampard is in the are of the fourth official.

"Off, off, off" chant Chelsea's fans. Instead the Real man gets a lecture from the Italian referee.

  12. CLOSE!published at 21:13 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-2)

    So close!

Real Madrid just cannot get the ball clear and N'Golo Kante, once again, has a golden chance to first Chelsea ahead on the night.

He leathers it towards the net but it cannons off a white shirt.

  13. ouch!

YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-2)

That's a sore one for Eduardo Camavinga! Reece James clearly catches his opponent late and gets a booking. That looked bad in slow motion.

Stop-start. Another free-kick for Real as Mateo Kovacic goes in on Toni Kroos. Alarm bells in the Chelsea box as the home side struggle to clear.

Pleased with Chelsea's first-half performance. Thought I heard Reece James looked like he was struggling with a hamstring injury. If goes off injured, it's definitely all over.

Real win a contentious free-kick just outside the box but it's defended well by Trevoh Chalobah as Kepa remains rooted on his line.

  18. James fit to continuepublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg 0-2)

    Alex Howell
    Football reporter at Stamford Bridge

Reece James is back out for the second half. He had been feeling his hamstring and the Chelsea staff have been checking in with him throughout the game so far.

It will be interesting to see if he can see out the match. He's stopped taking corners and coming more inside the pitch to play.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:06 British Summer Time 18 April 2023

Chelsea 0-0 Real Madrid (Agg: 0-2)

David Alaba has not come out for the second half. Nice round of applause for Antonio Rudiger, who enjoyed some big nights at Stamford Bridge in a Chelsea shirt.
