  1. Bye bye for nowpublished at 22:11 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

    FT: Blackburn 0-1 Burnley

That's where we leave you this evening.

As Championship title-winning victories go, it'll take some doing to top Burnley winning it at Blackburn.

But Manuel Benson's super strike gifted them all three points and took them over the line in style.

We'll be back tomorrow evening as Sheffield United look to take a step closer to automatic promotion as they face play-off chasing West Bromwich Albion.

The fun and games in the Championship never ends, does it?

For now, thank you for joining us.

  2. Bleak reading for Blackburnpublished at 22:08 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

    FT: Blackburn 0-1 Burnley

Here's how the Championship table looks this evening with Burnley wrapping up the title.

But the other side to the story is that Blackburn's play-off aspirations have taken quite a blow following their defeat this evening.

They are in eighth going into their final two games and are level on points with seventh-placed Millwall and sixth-placed Sunderland, the latter of which are managed by former boss Tony Mowbray.

To add insult to injury, Rovers' next two games are against third-placed form side Luton Town and then a meeting with Millwall on the final day.

And they're without a win in seven Championship games headed into their end-of-season run-in.

    Kevin Gallacher
Former Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

Blackburn have got to go away and hold their heads up and fight to the end as much of they fan.

With a performance like that, if they can work on the end product and score the goals - that's champions going up to the Premier League and they matched them for most of tonight and that's something they can take from this match.

  4. 'One moment of magic'published at 22:01 British Summer Time 25 April 2023

    FT: Blackburn 0-1 Burnley

    Paul Weller
Former Burnley midfielder on BBC Radio Lancashire

Champions. That's all we wanted to do all season.

To do it here at Ewood Park has been absolutely magic. The fans behind the goal are so, so happy.

It's not one of their best performances tonight but it was a dogged performance.

It was won by a magician. One moment of magic, that's what it takes to win the game.

I didn't think there was that much between Burnley and Blackburn tonight.

It all calms down soon after and Vincent Kompany and his side celebrate in front of the travelling support.

What a moment for them to clinch the title at the home of their fiercest rivals.

Plymouth can seal promotion with a home win against Burton on Saturday after they overcame Bristol Rovers 2-0.

Their 19th home win of the season was sealed by Niall Ennis and Macauley Gillesphey goals after the break.

Ipswich are favourites to join them in the Championship next term as they cruised to a 3-0 win at Barnsley thanks to two quick goals from Nathan Broadhead and George Hirst just before the break. Conor Chaplin added a late third. Barnsley are now destined for the play-offs.

Second-bottom Accrington stunned fifth-placed Bolton to boost their survival hopes. Their 1-0 win, courtesy of Ethan Hamilton’s volley from the edge of the box just before half-time, is Stanley’s first on the road since before the World Cup and took them two points behind fifth-bottom MK Dons.

Bolton still have a two point cushion in the play-off race but with just two games remaining, this result will surely send shockwaves through the club.

Oxford United gave their survival hopes a big boost with a thumping 4-0 win over Cheltenham, Marcus Browne bagged a brace in United's first win in 18 matches dating back to 21 January.

Gassan Ahadme’s close-range effort 11 minutes from time was enough to ensure Burton’s survival with a 1-0 win at Lincoln.
