First sign of new faces for Scotland as Brogan Hay and Martha Thomas enter the fray.

Another really good corner from Caroline Weir, but no reward this time.

Sophie Howard flings herself at it, but her diving header is cleared off the line. Close!

Tea secured, but what I could really do with is popcorn because goodness me, Scotland have been putting on a show.

Some more of the same please, team.

  4. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 48 mins

Caroline Weir is putting on her best performance in a Scotland jersey in a good while.

Her stinging strike from just outside the box smacks the upright to deny her a second of the evening.

Back at it in the Mount Florida rain.

Let's hope Scotland can further entertain that Hampden crowd.

That performance will leave the Scotland squad with mixed emotions.

Delight at sweeping aside a team heading for this summer's World Cup finals tempered by the realisation that they have - so far at least - shown they are a better side than one of those heading for Australia and New Zealand.

  9. Emma Watson waves her wandpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 11 April 2023

    HT: Scotland 3-0 Costa Rica

If it wasn't for Scotland, I'd almost be sickened by a 17-year-old scoring for their country on their international home debut.

Good thing Emma Watson's one of ours!

Not a bad first half that.

Goals from Emma Watson, Claire Emslie and Caroline Weir have seen Scotland claim a commanding lead at the interval.

Will we get to see some fresh faces in the second half?

What was I saying about a possible Costa Rica collapse?

Caroline Weir has looked a bit subdued in recent internationals, but the Real Madrid midfielder has risen to the occasion after being handed the captaincy - setting up two goals and now scoring the third with a sublime finish.

    Caroline Weir

    Oft, that's just lovely.

Claire Emslie squares the ball to Caroline Weir, who has bursted right out of midfield and into the box. Her dancing feet leaves the Costa Rica defence bamboozled, and she shimmies past multiple bodies before caressing the ball under the goalkeeper.

That's why she plays for Real Madrid, folks.

    Scotland 2-0 Costa Rica

    Clive Lindsay
    BBC Scotland at Hampden Park

Caroline Weir's deliveries are causing Costa Rica all sorts of problems and Claire Emslie, hardly renowned for her heading ability, delivers a deft touch at the front post.

Costa Rica's heads went down a bit when they fell 2-1 behind in Poland on Thursday. Will it be the same again?

La Tricolor is flying at half mast at present certainly.

    Claire Emslie

She celebrated 50 caps on Friday and she's celebrating her 12th goal today!

Caroline Weir loops in an inviting corner, which Claire Emslie meets at the front post and nods beyond Daniela Solera, with perhaps the helping hand of a wee deflection.

Scotland two up despite a lack of real spark at Hampden.

    Scotland 0-0 Costa Rica

Big clash in the middle of the park between Raquel Rodriguez and Sam Kerr.

It goes Scotland's way, but I reckon the Rangers midfielder instigated that one.

    Scotland 1-0 Costa Rica

    Clive Lindsay
    BBC Scotland at Hampden Park

It's a sparse crowd, occupying just one side of Hampden, with the game being played in conditions not conducive to venturing out on a wet April evening.

But that stunning start has the crowd abuzz with anticipation of more to come. Costa Rica, though, have shown, as they did in Poland on Thursday, that they can be a threat on the break against a home defence that is looking uncertain in the damp conditions.

Lauren Davidson is standing out, not just for the fact she towers over most players on the park.

Scotland work the ball from left to right, seeing the Glasgow City midfielder take aim at goal, but it's straight down the throat of Daniela Solera.

I used to think perhaps passing my driving test while still being 17 was pretty cool, or as my mum would say, just showing off.

I reckon scoring five minutes or so into your Hampden debut in your second cap for your country is definitely showing off.

I hope Emma Watson laps this up, though. A simply sensational achievement.

Lauren Davidson steamrolls up the right flank much to the delight of the Hampden crowd, but a heavy touch allows the visitors to put a stop to the move.
