If United aren't careful here they are going to sleepwalk into danger. Jesus Navas' cross is flicked away from the box by the aforementioned "one of the best defenders ever".

Big praise is that from Peter Schmeichel!
I mean, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has definitely improved this season. I'll give him that.

Wan-Bissaka is one of the best defenders ever, I think. You don't get past him easily.
Man Utd 2-0 Sevilla
This half has yet to spark into life.
Nemanja Gudelj tries for the spectacular with an overhead kicking the box but he catches Casemiro in the face and gets a booking.

Sancho has got to do better. He is just not focusing well and concentrating enough.
We've seen him take on players earlier on in the season, I don't know if it is lack of confidence.
The manager believes him and is giving him opportunities, he has managed him individually so I don't know why he should be lacking confidence.

I understand Big Dave's view on Sancho, but he's pulling the back line across and creating space for Anthony and Sabitzer. Can't always judge a wide player on their goals.

That's soft.
Jadon Sancho does really well to beat a man but after getting into the box he goes down so easily following a totally fair challenge from Gonzalo Montiel.
What has happened to that kid who terrorised teams in Germany for Dortmund?
Man Utd 2-0 Sevilla
And now frustration.
Harry Maguire dummies his way through two men on halfway to set up Jadon Sancho for an attack, but his sloppy pass gives Tyrell Malacia no chance of delivering a cross.

It is all a bit flat in Old Trafford now.
The home side are struggling to build any momentum.

Sevilla remain in the tie as it stands.
An away goal will really give them something to build on.
Jesus Navas is found on the right to drive a low ball into the middle that Lucas Ocampos cannot steer goal wards at the near post.

I want to see more tempo from Man United in this second half. They need to move the ball much quicker.
I want to see Sancho and Antony do more.

Chance!
A sloppy ball into midfield gifts the ball to Casemiro, who gets Antony away down the right. He cuts inside and curls a shot past the far post.

Nitpicking here, but the last ten mins have been really sloppy. If Utd are going to progress to that next level, they need to build the same mentality as a City or peak Liverpool team - maintaining the same high standard for 90 mins. City would have had five against this Sevilla.

This tie is there to be won tonight for Man Utd. How comfortable do they want to make their trip to Spain for the second leg?
The game is back under way.
Bothe teams have made a change. Raphael Varane went down but carried on in the first half. Harry Maguire replaces him.
Ex-Man City man Jesus Navas, who is 37 now, is on for Sevilla win place of Oliver Torres.

There is no market for De Gea with the wages that he has. Top player, you would think in Spain there would be a fight for him and yet he does not have the same prestige in Spain as he does in the Premier League.
In fact, according to the last two national team managers, he is not even in the top three in Spain. If he went to Spain, it would be to play for Real Madrid who have Courtois, Barcelona who have Ter Stegen or Atletico Madrid who have Oblak.
So no, the only thing I can see happening is him renewing his contract at Man United which he has said already that is what he wants to do. He has become a legendary goalkeeper at Man United.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust released a statement before tonight's game expressing its concern at the time taken to resolve the ownership issues.
They are particularly concerned at the revelation a third round of bidding is under way.
"With Erik Ten Hag having made such great progress in his first season, and with the vital summer transfer window a matter of weeks away, the news of these delays and further prolonged uncertainty are of great concern," MUST said.
"Erik needs to know what resources he has to spend so he can make the signings the club needs. The whole management resources of the club need to be focussed on supporting him in that. That cannot be the case with the future ownership so unclear.
"We are also unable to move forward on major investment projects as we remain in limbo.
"We are in dire need of new investment, which undoubtedly requires new ownership. MUST, along with United fans all around the world, are calling for this process to be concluded without further delay."

Sevilla are not used to this kind of intensity with the ball. When Man United got hold of the ball, it was easy to keep the intensity up.
Sevilla have a lot of quality players but they do not have many layers as a team. It is very easy to stop them and that is what we are seeing at the moment.

What a great save by David De Gea, again he is proving his worth for this team. Without him, Man United would have gone in 2-1 up instead of 3-0 or 4-0.
It's now 2-0 but it should have been more.
