Join us for the build-up to tomorrow's noon kick-off in Ayrshire, but we'll say bye for now.

    FT: Livingston 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson tells Sportsound the defeat in West Lothian was reward for "not doing what they were asked, it's really simple".

"I said 'don't take too many touches in the middle of the park'," he says. "That allows them to apply pressure. This was a second-ball game - we knew that and didn't handle it very well.

"We had two or three really good opportunities to score and we didn't. Then it's always going to be an uphill struggle.

"People always talk about shape and tactics. Sometimes, it's all about heart. It's all about heart and desire to win a game of football and we only showed that second half.

"The results have been really poor and no-one has stood up and taken it by the scruff of the neck. Players need to step up."

  4. 'We have to believe' - Goodwinpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Motherwell 1-2 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Sportsound: “I thought we had more control of the game today, which is something we felt we had to improve on.

“I think we’ve got some very good technical players within the squad who can all handle the ball and I think maybe nerves have gotten the better of them in recent weeks, but I thought today we controlled possession particularly in that first half.

“We’re all pulling in the same direction and I’ve had complete buy-in from the players. There’s a real good, solid structure to the team now, which is really pleasing.

“We have to believe that we’re capable of putting together a run similar to what Motherwell have done. Six or seven weeks ago, they were in a similar position to ourselves."

  5. Martindale praises Livi for going to wirepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Livingston 2-0 St Johnstone

Livingston manager David Martindale tells Sportsound: "For 60 to 70 minutes, we were really good. The patterns of play, how we got the ball into the front three, their application.

"We scored a fantastic first goal, with great link up from wee Brucie. Today, his all-round game was fantastic. No-one else sees the amount of work Stephen Kelly puts into scoring that free-kick in training. He gets his just rewards today.

"Since we came in, we've lacked consistency from the winter break. I take responsibility for that. I don't mind doing that. You want to finish the season strong and it's testament to everyone at the club that we are going into matchday 33 fighting to get top six."

You have to give credit where credit is due, Lee Johnson has managed has stuck to his guns and got a result. He has to back it up though and secure a top-six finish or it won't be good enough.

  7. St Mirren 'didn't have enough quality'published at 17:43 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Rangers 5-2 St Mirren

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "We didn't play as well as we can do.

"There were a couple that didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Ultimately, we didn't have enough quality."

A win would have clinched a top-six finish.

"Unfortunately, we didn't finish the job," Robinson adds as he praised his double goalscorer.

"Mark O'Hara's been absolutely superb all season. First one was incredible, second one was great technique."

  10. 'Mixed bag' for Rangers bosspublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Rangers 5-2 St Mirren

Rangers manager Michael Beale tells BBC Scotland the win over St Mirren was a "mixed bag of a performance".

The two goals against is a concern because they could've been stopped," he said.

"Nothing against O'Hara's two strikes, they were both excellent, especially the first one. We were sloppy in both moments and we have to be better than that.

"There were some harsh words at half-time at 1-1. We come out, again we go and get a goal straight away but we concede off a set play and then I have to make changes off the bench.

"I thought Todd Cantwell was a constant threat. I'm delighted for him. I want more."

  11. We didn't deserve win - Naismithpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

FT: Hibernian 1-0 Heart of Midlothian

Back to the early kick-off, with Hibs winning the Edinburgh derby, Hearts interim boss Steven Naismith told Sportsound that losing his first game in charge is "hard to take" but that they didn't deserve to win at Easter Road.

“I didn’t think there was too much in it," he said. "We didn’t carry as much of a threat as I hoped we’d have in the final third.

"They are very direct - we dealt with that very well except for one moment and that’s what costs you the draw.

"We are a good squad, but I felt there was still what has been happening over the past few months still there - everything was a bit reactionary. We’ve got another week to work on the things we want to make better.

"The European spot hasn’t been mentioned. I don’t think it’s that big a deal to be honest. In terms of the squad, there hasn’t been much chat about third."

  12. Top two win in fourth tierpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Scottish League 2

It's as you were at the top of the fourth tier as leaders Stirling won away to Stenhousemuir and Dumbarton ended their poor run with a victory away to Bonnyrigg Rose.

But the score of the day was East Fife thumped Stranraer 8-0 to move up to fourth as Forfar lost to Elgin.

  13. Pars' title as chasing two drawpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Scottish League 1

As mentioned earlier, Dunfermline clinched promotion and the third-tier title with a 5-0 romp that ended Queen of the South's six-game unbeaten run.

Falkirk and Airdrieonians shared a four-goal thriller that ends the visitors' five-game winning streak and keeps the gap at five points between them.

Alloa's win away to Kelty moves them six points clear of Queens in the race for the final promotion play-off spot.

Clyde's rare win at home to Edinburgh means they are now five clear of bottom side Peterhead, who look increasingly likely to occupy the automatic relegation spot.

  14. Dundee draw but edge in frontpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Scottish Championship

Dundee still haven't beaten Morton in six meetings, but they came from 3-1 behind to grab a draw that moves them one point clear at the top of the second tier.

Partick Thistle and Ayr remain third and fourth after their stalemate, but Caley Thistle are now only behind the Somerset Park side on goal difference after their comeback win away to Cove.

That defeat leaves the Aberdeen side two points adrift at the bottom, with third-bottom Arbroath increasing the gap to six points after their draw in Kirkcaldy.

  15. FULL-TIME Motherwell 1-2 Dundee Unitedpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Back-to-back wins for Dundee United shoot them all the way up to 10th in the Premiership. Albeit until Kilmarnock play Celtic tomorrow at least.

One down at the break, they roared back in the second half through Ilmari Niskanen and a Jamie McGrath penalty.

This could be a massive result come the end of the season.

    Motherwell 1-2 Dundee United

Steven Fletcher goes down in a remarkably similar situation as his penalty that was awarded earlier on.

This time, the United striker is booked for a dive. Liam Kelly is incensed, probably as he think that's what Fletcher did the first time around.

  17. FULL-TIME Livingston 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Livingston kept their top-six hopes alive with a convincing win that continues St Johnstone's freefall.

After two magnanimous defeats, goals from Joel Nouble and Stephen Kelly mean Livi are a point behind Hibs going into the final game before the Premiership split.

Callum Davidson's visitors are now six without a win, although they remain five points off bottom spot.

  18. FULL-TIME Rangers 5-2 St Mirrenpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

It wasn't always a sure thing, but Rangers take all three points against St Mirren.

Mark O'Hara's double cancelled out goals by Todd Cantwell and Fashion Sakala, but late efforts by Alfredo Morelos and Scott Arfield settled the issue, with Morelos netting twice.

The scoreline is harsh on St Mirren and they still have work to do to secure a top-six Premiership finish.

A Motherwell corner is emphatically headed clear by Steven Fletcher just a yard or so from the goal-line.

Moments later, a Calum Butcher effort from outside of the area fizzes wide.

The linesman also stuck his board up for eight minutes of added time. How are the nerves United fans?
