As mentioned earlier, Dunfermline are well on their way to a win that will secure the third-tier title and promotion.

Falkirk are edging the second versus third game against Airdrieonians.

Meanwhile, Clyde are heading for a rare win that would increase the gap with Peterhead in their two-horse race to avoid the automatic relegation spot.

    Scottish Championship

It's all very tight in the second tier, with Dundee heading for a one-point lead at the top if it stays level at home to Morton.

Third-top Partick Thistle would be the gainers as they would move four points clear of visitors Ayr.

    HT: Motherwell 1-0 Dundee United

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Sport Scotland at Fir Park

They didn't start particularly well, but since Kevin Van Veen's eighth goal in five games (well, four and a half to be precise), Motherwell haven't really looked back.

They've grown into the game nicely, had a couple of other chances and defended well when they've had to.

Steven Fletcher looks a real threat when United get him the ball, but he's pretty much a one-man attack.

    HT: Rangers 1-1 St Mirren

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

An unbelievable moment from Mark O'Hara has levelled this and I can't understate the absolute quality of that goal. It was incredible skill and execution to finish on the volley on the run. A goal of the season contender.

St Mirren have had to hang in but generated a short spell of pressure that has paid off and then some.

Rangers will be so frustrated. They looked in control, but a failure to get that second goal has cost them dearly.

  6. HALF-TIME Livingston 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

After two 3-0 defeats in a row, Livingston have answered any doubts resoundingly.

They've been absolutely superb so far this afternoon and take a deserved 2-0 lead into the break.

Joel Nouble opened the scoring after being played through by Bruce Anderson. Stephen Kelly got the second, a cracking free-kick curled into the top corner.

St Johnstone need a big response in the second half.

  7. HALF-TIME Motherwell 1-0 Dundee Unitedpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Kevin van Veen, as is becoming like clockwork now, is the difference for Motherwell with his eighth goal in five games.

United recording back-to-back wins, after their 2-1 triumph over Hibs last week, could be momentous for their survival hopes.

So a huge second 45 now awaits in the relegation fight.

  8. HALF-TIME Rangers 1-1 St Mirrenpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

It's all square at the break at Ibrox and Rangers will wonder why. They had an early James Tavernier penalty saved before Todd Cantwell fired the hosts in front.

More attacking possession came the hosts' way but they could not capitalise and Mark O'Hara pounced in added time with a volleyed leveller for St Mirren.

  9. CLOSE!published at 15:50 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee United

The ball drops to Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen in the box, who spins on the ball and fires it goalward.

It fizzes over the bar, however, as the home side look for a strong end to the half.

Rangers fail to clear their lines Greg Kiltie's cross comes in from the right for Mark O'Hara to chest the ball and volley into the top left corner.

  13. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Motherwell 1-0 Dundee United

United are still enjoying the majority of the game, 60% to the home side's 40% of possession.

Less than effective in possession is a fair way to characterise their first-half display so far, however.

A lot of sideway passes in the middle of the park now as they have stopped using Steven Fletcher as a way to pull them up the pitch.

GOAL Livingston 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Wow! Pinpoint accuracy from the Livi midfielder as he curls in a sumptuous free-kick from 25 yards out.

Manager David Martindale said Kelly brings goals. He wasn't wrong.

    Rangers 1-0 St Mirren

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

Rangers have managed the ball very well at times and shown glimpses of free-flowing football. That was key to the opener, with decisive play resulting in the chance for Todd Cantwell to finish.

The home side have reacted well to James Tavernier's missed spot kick.

St Mirren just can't get hold of possession, although they have had a couple of promising chances. Decision making has cost them at the vital moment.

Steven Bradley and Bruce Anderson play a delightful one-two, with the flag going up after the former rolls the ball into the St Johnstone net.

The game pauses as VAR Kevin Clancy checks it... and, after a few minutes, it's ruled offside.

    Livingston 1-0 St Johnstone

    Amy Canavan
BBC Scotland at Tony Macaroni Arena

Livingston were all over the shop last week against Motherwell and I asked Davie Martindale if it was about getting back to basics today. Not so much of that, he said, but back to what Livi are good at - and, my goodness, they've been more than good today.

Bruce Anderson, one of four changes, simply picks out Joel Nouble and caresses it beyond Remi Matthews.

It's absolutely deserved, too. This is the Livi who were pushing for third, not the Livi that have been on show in recent weeks.
