An injury for Portugal's Lucia Alves has allowed the director to show a few different angles of Gemma Evans' tackle and I didn't do it justice, even though I called it superb.

That was a goal-denying piece of defending.

It was a race there! Fair play to Gemma Evans.

Since I was about to type that Wales had dominated the opening 20 minutes Portugal have nearly scored twice, so I'm going to pipe down.

What has been pleasing with Wales so far is the tenacity and intensity to win the ball back, if they do lose possession they are straight back at it, regaining the ball.

Wales' passing accuracy was excellent on Thursday. They must maintain that.

They look the comfortable side at the moment.

Wales have started so well the home fans have resorted to the absolute lowest of the low, they are doing 'the wave.'

How is that still a thing? And no, I don't enjoy organised fun thank you very much.

What is important tonight is that Wales keep possession when we regain the ball.

When you play a technical team like Portugal, they're comfortable on ball, they control the ball well and we have to keep the ball and create chances when possible instead of being on the back foot.

A draw will be a good result for Wales.

You would not know which team was ranked 10 places higher and heading to a World Cup based on this opening 10 minutes.

Wales will be really encouraged by the way they have started.

It is good to see Wales' wide players, Ceri Holland and Rachel Rowe being in a one on one position, that is where you want your wide players.

Wales will need to utilise the width this evening because of the narrow shape Portugal are in when they are defending.

That might suit the welsh players in terms of Ceri Holland and Rachel Rowe having more opportunities.

This will be a real step up for Wales, it is a completely different test and one that Wales will need to adapt to quickly.

Portugal have improved over the years. It's great to see a big crowd.

On the pitch, it will be a different challenge for Wales but we're skilful enough to compete out there.

What helps for Wales is we have players that play in the Women's Super League - it lifts the performances of those who do not.
