West Ham 0-0 Gent (Agg: 1-1)

Lucas Paqueta curls it across to Jarrod Bowen, who would have had a sight at goal but his touch is terrible.

West Ham manage to keep it and Vladimir Coufal launches a long throw in. Michail Antonio fouls the defender as he tries to head it.

Good intensity from the Hammers so far though.

The last time Declan Rice was involved in a quarter-final it was for England at the World Cup.

Rice will hope tonight turns out better for him than the meeting with France in Qatar.

West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola was on the bench for the winning side that night, although he played no part in the game.

  7. 'They'll miss Fernandes'published at 20:00 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Sevilla v Manchester United (Agg: 2-2)

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Manchester United will miss Bruno Fernandes, I thought he was outstanding against Nottingham Forest and a big game for Antony. But a big opportunity for Jadon Sancho, he must step up to the mark.

This is why you want to be a professional footballer to play in games like this.

  8. Ten Hag wants Man Utd to 'put it right'published at 19:59 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Sevilla v Manchester United (Agg: 2-2)

“It’s a tie about two legs,” said Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. “I think we play for over 60 minutes quite well and then the last 30 minutes we dropped the level and we became passive.

“It’s not acceptable, we know that, and you see what happened when you are playing a game for only 60 minutes.

“You can’t do it and when you do it you get punished, so we have to be aware of it.

“We have to use emotion as a tool but you have to control it as well.

“You have to put it in the right moment, so the timing for that is important and that is in big games especially, you have to know when you use it and when definitely not.”

  9. 'Isn't it incredible?'published at 19:58 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

West Ham v Gent (Agg: 1-1)

    West Ham United

David Moyes says the chance for West Ham to win a first trophy since 1980 is a "big incentive for the club".

They drew 1-1 in Belgium last week leaving tonight's second leg wide open in London.

"Isn't it incredible that West Ham United are the favourites to win the Europa Conference League?" said Moyes.

"There are only three European competitions, and for people to think we're worthy of winning one of those, it means a lot."

It is a feature of European nights at the London Stadium that a DJ plays music at one end of the ground.

He just played 'Freed From Desire', which really got the Gent fans rocking.

They were all twirling their scarves and making a right noise.

Now there is what would be quite an impressive light show were it not for the fact it is still light above the stadium.

The Gent fans are not enjoying that quite as much.

As a United fan, it's really great to be involved in quarter-finals and semi-finals of cup competitions. Obviously United still have a big gap to the likes of City, but win or lose tonight, I think the United fans should remember we've come a long way from that 4-0 defeat to Brentford way back in August.

    Image caption,

Marcus Rashford has already eliminated one Seville-based side from the Europa League, as he helped United beat Real Betis in the last 16

Sevilla head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar believes Marcus Rashford is “one of the best players” around.

The 25-year-old has recovered from a difficult campaign last season in stunning fashion, scoring 28 goals in all competitions before pulling up injured against Everton 11 days ago.

Rashford missed last week’s chaotic, and potentially costly, 2-2 first-leg draw with Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals but the England striker is among the options on the Manchester United bench today.

In his last match in Seville he scored a stunner as United won 1-0 at Real Betis in the previous round.

“Well, Rashford is one of the best players nowadays – but we’re not going to change our mentality or idea if Rashford plays or not,” head coach Mendilibar said.

“We have to think about ourselves, respecting the opposite team but we don’t have to think about particular players.

“If Rashford plays, it’s because he’s ready. If he’s not, another top player will play there.”

  14. Elsewhere in Europa Conference Leaguepublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

FT: Fiorentina 2-3 Lech Poznan (Agg 6-4)

That crazy game in Italy has ended and Fiorentina got two goals back to win 6-4 on aggregate, cutting Lech Poznan's 3-0 lead on the night to 3-2.

That means Fiorentina go through to the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

AZ Alkmaar and Anderlecht have gone to extra-time after drawing 2-2 in normal time. The winner of that tie will face West Ham or Gent next.

  15. 'Two strikers isn't seen often'published at 19:48 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

West Ham v Gent (Agg: 1-1, 20:00 BST)

    West Ham United

West Ham manager David Moyes to BT Sport: "I hope we can show it again and get a performance similar [to Sunday's draw with Arsenal]. If we do that, we have a good chance.

"You pick 11 players and you hope they show it. We try to give them all the information but it is their opportunity to show what they can do.

"I didn't think we played well in Gent last week. Now it's the knockout stage so it's important we get a strong team out. Hopefully we can put on a good show.

"I think they have a pair of strikers which isn't seen often in modern football. They play a version of 5-3-2 and the two strikers are a handful. One works very hard and the other runs in behind to score goals.

"It's a tough job and the centre-halves have a job on their hands but if they deal with them we have a chance."

  16. Who next?published at 19:47 British Summer Time 20 April 2023

Sevilla v Manchester United (Agg: 2-2)

The winners of the Manchester United v Sevilla tie will play either Juventus or Sporting Lisbon in the semi-final, with the Italians holding a 1-0 advantage after winning the home first leg.

Jose Mourinho's Roma are a potential opponent in the final, but have work to do as they trail 1-0 to Feyenoord after the first leg. The winner of that will face either Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium or Germany's Bayer Leverkusen, with that level at 1-1.

Quite an impressive attendance at the London Stadium for tonight's match. I'm not sure I'd risk players in this when fighting for Premier League survival.

West Ham v Gent (Agg: 1-1)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the London Stadium

I had a chat with West Ham's Under-18 coach Kevin Keen earlier about his side's run to the FA Youth Cup final.

The Hammers last lifted the trophy in 1999, with a team that contained Joe Cole and Michael Carrick.

Striker Divin Mubama is the star of the current crop.

He scored a hat-trick in the semi-final win over Southampton and got his first senior goal in the last round of this competition against AEK Larnaca.

So good to see Eriksen back on the biggest stage. No disrespect to Brentford, but he needed to be at the top table of European football to really show his talents.
