Couple of cracking saves that have promptly turned the home fans nerves, into pride.

Charlie Albinson again pulls off a wonderful save.

The shot this time comes from Grant Savoury and it is driven low and hard.

No sweat for the Ayr goalkeeper, though, as he gets down smartly to keep the score level.

Queen's Park get into the box as Scott Williamson beats the offside trap but decides not to shoot, instead cutting back and squaring it to Connor Shields.

He turns on the ball, but his shot is blocked inside the area.

It's better in the final third from The Spiders though.

A lot of football is being played in the middle of the park as the second half gets up the speed.

Queen's Park's Connor Shields has a snapshot blocked easily, maybe the pass was the better option there.

We're off again.

Some goals please and thank you.

Both side will no doubt be looking to their respective benches sooner rather than later if it stays 0-0.

Remember, Inverness host Dundee tomorrow in what is already a massive game, but if this ends all square, Dundee could go three points clear at the top of the table.

Andy Murdoch missed a chunk of the season earlier in the calendar year and what a miss he was.

He just brings a calmness to this Ayr United side, the positions he picks up off the ball are crucial. Evidently an intelligent player, enjoyed having a wee eye on his movements tonight.

Nineteen-year-old Alex Bannon did indeed end up replacing Lee Kilday as the half came to a close.

It's been lively enough and entertaining, but no goals to report yet.

Ayr have certainly had the better of the opening 45, but for all their huffing and puffing they're yet to show a real cutting edge in front of goal.

Queen's Park went the closest when a smart bit of play from Connor Shields resulted in Charlie Albinson making a great save.

The visitors can go top with a win tonight and I'm sure words to that effect will be relayed to the players by Owen Coyle in the dressing room.

Ayr launch in a free-kick from the halfway line that's nodded back across the face of goal by Frankie Musonda.

A mid-air fight for the ball ends with Sam Ashford on the deck and a corner for Ayr as the striker is beaten to it.

Nothing comes of it, though, as we enter five minutes of added time.

Connor Shileds burst down the right-hand side and slides a pass across the six-yard box.

It appears to be touched goalward by Scott Williamson before Ayr goalkeeper Charlie Albinson makes a tremendous reflex save to smack it away.

Queen's Park's Lee Kilday is down with a knock now and a sub is being prepped for the away side.

Nineteen-year-old Alex Bannon was set to replace him, but Kilday looks set to continue for now with half-time just over five minutes away.

Two half-decent Ayr chances come and go and yet again their clinical edge is nowhere to be seen.

We've mentioned that both these sides scored plenty of goals in their previous meetings this season, but maybe with so much on the line at this stage in the campaign, a cagey 1-0 would be more than enough for either.

Somerset in the sun, eh? Don’t let it fool you, though, it’s freezing.

I’ve actually been typing this since kick-off, but my fingers are so numb it’s taken this long.

Ayr United, though, have got off to a much quicker start. Nothing to show for it, yet, but the brighter side for sure.

Dom Thomas loves a little bit of showboating and knocks the ball through the defender's legs as the winger dances his way towards the box.

In the end, he's dealt with, but the away side could do with a little spark to jolt them into life here.

A break in play as the aforementioned Jack Thomson appears to catch a stray arm in a sliding challenge.

When it resumes, Ayr's Reece McAlear goes close with a strike and leads to his side taking yet another near-post corner.

Clearly it's a pre-determined routine from the hosts, but it hasn't quite clicked yet.

Jack Thomson has another strike from outside of the box.

A clearance makes its way to the Queen's Park man, who expertly touches it over the defender on his right foot.

He follows it up with the only thing you can do in that situation, a volley with your right foot.

Well wide in the end, though.

Reece McAlear and Malachi Boateng both go in for the ball. A good old 50/50. Who knew they were still allowed?

Queen's Park ultimately win the free-kick and rightfully so. They have managed to wrestle back a bit of control but are yet to show as much attacking intent as the hosts.

Dipo Akinyemi, that man again, is at the heart of Ayr driving forward.

This time he opts to slide in a teammate, Ben Dempsey, but his attempt from outside of the are is high and wide.
