Please United stop with the short corners, they don't work!

When was the last time United actually took advantage of a corner?

Great work from Julio Enciso, who plays a superb ball to put Alexis Mac Allister into space 25 yards from goal. Mac Allister sees space at David de Gea's far corner so tries to drive in from distance but ends up shooting well wide.

As a neutral there's not a chance that was a penalty for Mitoma. He was looking for it more than anything.

Can anyone explain how that is any different to the penalty Liverpool were awarded yesterday? Attacker gets caught with minimal contact. The only consistency is key decisions favour the big six time after time

Manchester United work the ball really well down the left and Antony is able to shoot on his favoured left foot but sweeps into the sidenetting.

He had a good view of it, Andre Marriner, and he made a quick decision. There is a coming together but there's not enough there for a penalty.

  13. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 19 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

Kaoru Mitoma has been a real menace but he goes to ground far too easily inside the box and the referee waves away shouts for a penalty.

Manchester United then break quickly and win a corner as Marcus Rashford's shot at the near post is blocked, but the set piece comes to nothing.

Manchester United had that big early chance for Antony but Brighton are pushing them back now, putting them under real pressure in possession at the back. Kaoru Mitoma is already giving Aaron Wan Bissaka problems and the home crowd are right in the game.

Surely United's coaches could come up with a plan to teach Antony what his right foot can be used for? Very expensive (and frustrating) for one foot!

A quarter of an hour gone, no goals but a couple of really good chances for both sides. Feels highly unlikely this will end goalless.

Kaoru Mitoma has been very lively so far and he shows great close control inside the box to work a bit of space and places his shot just wide of the far post.

Billy Gilmour is onto a heavy touch by Casemiro and Julio Enciso - brilliant against Wolves at the weekend - but he loses the ball on the edge of the area.

An entertaining start to this game.

David de Gea is continuing but looks a tad groggy as he recovers from that really powerful shot from close range.

Fortunately for the Manchester United goalkeeper the ball is at the other end of the pitch as a really good attack ends with Bruno Fernandes smashing well over.
