    Swansea 1-1 West Brom

    Here come Swansea again!

But Jamie Patterson can't get on the end of an in-swinging cross from the far side.

He sends it back into the mixer but the Baggies defender Semi Ajayi clears.

GOAL: QPR 0-1 Bristol Citypublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Mark Sykes (28 mins)

Bristol City get the opener at Loftus Road, and it's Mark Sykes who gets the crucial touch at the far-post.

QPR didn't clear a Robins raid, it falls to Cameron Pring, whose cross shot is fired back across goal and in at the back-post.

City in front and QPR's back-to-back win run coming to an end, as it stands.

  3. goal

    Josh Brownhill (27 mins)

    The champions are ahead.

Cardiff are convinced they should have a free-kick and almost stop playing. Nothing is given and Josh Brownhill has a tap-in from three yards.

Vincent Kompany's men are heading for 101 points.

  4. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Millwall 1-1 Blackburn

Good build-up from Millwall as Tom Bradshaw works the ball into Zian Flemming's feet.

Chance for the Dutchman, who shanks his effort miles wide.

As it stands, Millwall are clinging onto that final play-off spot.

  5. Postpublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Preston 0-0 Sunderland

The play-off chasing Black Cats have got their tails up now.

Patrick Roberts curls a fine effort towards goal but Freddie Woodman is equal to it.

Andrew Priestley: Word of the day - permutations.

Paul: I don’t know if I just curse Blackburn when I watch them or something, but the few times I have this season they’ve been absolute rubbish.

Harry Hudson: Good day to be a Boro fan - feet up! I’m not worried about momentum as the end prize should be momentum enough.

    Millwall 1-1 Blackburn

Millwall are dominating in terms of chances. Blackburn are dominating the ball.

But it's honours even on the scoresheet.

And we have more than 60 minutes left to play - what an afternoon!

  8. goal

GOAL: Swansea 1-1 West Brompublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Luke Cundle (26 mins)

Out of nowhere Swansea deliver a hammer blow!

Crashing into the box on the far side Luke Cundle gets on the end of a pass and flicks his orange boot at the ball and over Alex Palmer in goal.

Rubbish defending from the Baggies and as it stands they cannot reach the top six and the play-offs.

    Preston 0-0 Sunderland

Hmmn, Sunderland forward Joe Gelhardt looks to burst on to a pass from Amad Diallo in the area and takes a tumble over Patrick Bauer's outstretched leg.

Referee isn't interested but... I've seen them given.

    Swansea 0-1 West Brom

At the moment West Brom are heading into the play-offs.

But let's not get carried away.

Still plenty of football left to play.

You got to love this end of season drama.

    Preston 0-0 Sunderland

That Blackburn equaliser at Millwall is met with huge cheers in the Sunderland end.

If they win and that stays as it is then they will take a top six berth.

  12. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 0-1 Coventrypublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Gustavo Hamer (22 mins)

    Oh, hang on.

Coventry have the lead and it's reward for their early dominance.

Gustavo Hamer was set away, he teed up Matty Godden on the edge of the box but the touch was poor.

It fell back to Hamer on the edge of the D, and he took a touch, set himself and arrowed a low bullet past Zack Steffen.

Sky Blues delight. They only need a point remember for the play-offs, they're on course for three as it stands.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Coventry

Coventry were actually in League Two as recently as 2018, and the man who led them up from there is current boss Mark Robins.

They've not been this close to the play-offs since they finished eighth in 2005-06, having been relegated to the second tier in 2001.

The point they've got as it stands would put them three games from the Premier League. There will be a couple of generations of Sky Blues fans for whom that sounds surreal, I'm sure.

It's calmed down a bit at the Riverside, Boro rode out the early Sky Blues storm.

    Norwich 0-1 Blackpool

    Norwich nearly find an equaliser.

Teemu Pukki contorts his body, wraps around the ball, but his strike hits the post.

He would love to score in his final game with the Canaries.

  15. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Preston 0-0 Sunderland

Injuries mean that Sunderland's XI is unusually small so they're having to try and come up with new routines when they win set pieces.

Some novel stuff... and then Jack Clarke just swings one in straight at the Preston goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

  16. goal

Out of nowhere, Blackburn are level!

A gorgeous strike from Adam Wharton, and it's game on at the Den and for followers of Coventry, Sunderland and West Brom.

Joe Rankin-Costello squares it to Wharton, who takes a touch and curls a lovely shot into the bottom corner from about 20 yards, beyond the reach of George Long.

  17. Albion press undoes Swanseapublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Swansea 0-1 West Brom

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

Only West Brom are in contention for the play-offs in this one, and it is the Baggies who have an early lead after their high press undid Swansea.

Russell Martin's team have cut out the soft goals which troubled them for so much of this season during their recent good run, but Okay Yokuslu was left with to put Albion ahead with a simple finish after Swansea were caught trying to play out of their own box.

Swansea have conceded more goals than all but four Championship teams.

Then again, they have scored more than all but three - Burnley, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough - so West Brom have work to do yet.

  18. Postpublished at 15:19 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Millwall 1-0 Blackburn

Millwall continue on the front foot.

Duncan Watmore sends over a fine ball into the middle where Dutchman Zian Flemming gets up brilliantly but his header from about 15 yards is only just wide.

The Lions are playing as if this is a play-off game.

  19. goal

    Morgan Rogers (15 mins)

Morgan Rogers times his run beautifully and chips the ball neatly over the keeper and into the back of the net - remember Blackpool are ahead in this dead rubber.

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki will want a positive result in his last game for the club.

  20. Postpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 8 May 2023

    Millwall 1-0 Blackburn

It is worth mentioning that Blackburn have not won a Championship game since 15 March.

They have taken only five points from the last eight matches - a bad run at the worst possible time.
