Crystal Palace v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Crystal Palace have won the last four Premier League meetings. The only side they have claimed five consecutive top-flight victories against is Wimbledon, doing so between 1989 and 1991.

The Eagles' 2-0 win at the Vitality Stadium on 31 December proved to be their final victory under Patrick Vieira, who was dismissed after they failed to win any of the subsequent 12 top-flight matches.

Bournemouth have won two of their 11 Premier League fixtures against Crystal Palace (D4, L5).

This game is almost impossible to call, and I suppose the safest thing to do is to predict a draw. I don't like doing that though.

Villa have slipped up a couple of times recently but I really have no idea which Spurs side will show up and I cannot back them when they are so inconsistent.

Unai Emery's side won 2-0 away at Tottenham earlier in the season so I am going for them to do the double.

    Prediction: 2-1

Tottenham need to act and they need to act quickly. Why wouldn’t they be interested in Nagelsmann? He is one of the most innovative, modern thinking, modern day coaches.

If Spurs aren’t in the hunt for a manager like that it is worrying. I potentially think they have sounded his people out and they have gone ‘no, don’t waste your time’.

There’s no place like home for Aston Villa right now.

After back to back away defeats, they’re hoping to extend their winning run in their own stadium to six in a row.

Tyrone Mings came out early to sign some autographs below me; he’s been part of a Villa defence that hasn’t conceded at home since February. So a tough afternoon in store for Harry Kane and co.

Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason: "We understand that we're up against direct competition [to qualify for Europe] and there are three games to go between now and the end of the season.

"Today is important. We know that. It's a big game. Unai Emery has done an incredible job at Aston Villa. We recognise that. He's created a good feeling around the club and we know it's going to be a difficult game.

"At the same time we are always confident and believe in ourselves. We feel together and we understand we have got three crucial games left."

  7. 'Can't change what's gone before'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Southampton v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ruben Selles to Match of the Day on his side's must-win game against Fulham:

"We always want to attack and play our game and try to win football matches.

"My feeling is I know what I can control - and I can control my team to make the very best of the situation, a team that will try to play together and show the competitiveness we showed in the last few months.

"We cannot change the results that have gone before but we need to get the performance and it is important that whatever happens we have our identity and hopefully today we get the result."

Newcastle's position in the league is inflated due to no European football, playing once a week basically. Let's see where they are next season

    Kenny

Can critical Newcastle fans rein it in? Prior to defeat by Arsenal (I.e the 2nd placed team, when we played well) we had won 8 in 9!

There’s a sense of acceptance inside St Mary’s about what is likely to come Southampton’s way this weekend.Eleven consecutive years in the Premier League is a very decent stint, but the last time Saints went down from the top-flight, it took them seven years to get back there.

Those in the press box of a Forest persuasion have been understandably preoccupied with events at Elland Road, with loud cheers/groans greeting each of the goals.

There's a quiet optimism they can get something here, despite their awful away record, although there were a few raised eyebrows at top scorer Brennan Johnson moving to the bench, with Steve Cooper telling us that he's "picked the best team to improve the away form".

  11. 'We'd probably have lost 5-1 in weeks before'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    FT: Leeds 2-2 Newcastle

    Leeds United

Leeds defender Luke Ayling to BT Sport: "A point today is massive for us, especially with how we did it. We had a chance to go 2-0 up and then that happened. In weeks before we'd probably lose that four or 5-1.

"The fans have been with us all season. It's been hard for them sometimes. They stuck with us today.

"Hopefully we can kick on from here."

If Newcastle expect to compete in any form of European competition they will struggle. Not ready can't even beat a poor Leeds side.

As a Toon fan I think that's not a good result, but not a bad point in context. Should get over the line.

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Sebastien Bassong
Former Spurs defender on BBC 5 Live

Even though Forest's star players score goals, I'm not sure if that will be enough for next season. They need other players to come in to help them become more consistent.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Brennan Johnson are very good but I want to see more from them.

The lack of consistency is due to the turnover of players. It's very disruptive for players already at the club. The way they play needs to be consistent in their effort and end product.

All this talk of manager of the season when barely a pundit had Arsenal top 4, and they've run the Haaland enhanced City juggernaut close. Don't think there's even a debate, it should be Arteta

While we are talking managers, special mention to Roy Hodgson. Desperate teams bringing in Dean Smith, Dyche and Allardyce and still struggle. Palace get Roy in without fuss they’re safe as houses. The man’s a student of the game, class act.

  15. Chelsea's biggest disappointment this seasonpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Ross Mooring, Chelsea Fancast, external

This will be just the third season that Chelsea have completed without either winning a trophy or qualifying for European football since, rather astonishingly, 1996 - also failing to do so in 1995-96 and 2015-16.

It is also the first time since 1993 the Blues have managed to lose six consecutive matches in a campaign too.

The list of disappointments is long unfortunately, and starts from that initial high of the new owners' feverish first summer in charge.

Added to the list of disappointments are many of their signings and also managerial decisions, right down to a large proportion of first-team players who have represented the club this term with little in terms of either good results or performances to show for it.

The only good news is that, after 1995-96 and 2015-16, Chelsea won trophies in the following seasons - the FA Cup in 1997 and the Premier League in 2016-17 under Antonio Conte.

    • Nottingham Forest have won just one of their past 12 meetings with Chelsea (D3 L8) - a 2-0 home win in January 1997.
    • The Blues are winless in their past five home league games, including defeats in the past two. They haven’t had a longer home run without winning in the Premier League since one of 12 in 1995.
    • Forest have lost their past seven away league games - they last had a longer such run between October 1961 and February 1962 (nine matches).
  17. 'Hopefully we are firing at the right time'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson, speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "We've always known we are in the fight from minute one. We always knew we had to rise off the bottom of the table. Getting those two wins in last few weeks is huge.

"The togetherness in the group is phenomenal. The manager is great and the home advantage gives us a chance.

"It was always going to be a case of when it clicked for us at the top of the pitch. Hopefully we are firing at the right time."

    FT: Leeds 2-2 Newcastle

    Sebastien Bassong

A point is OK for Leeds. Obviously, they would have liked all three but they couldn't afford to lose.

I think Newcastle have got enough to stay in the top four but the pressure is starting to heat up.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery: "It's a very tough game. Tottenham are still fighting for Europe and they have chances to be in the top four. It's difficult but they can still do it.

"We are at home and we are feeling very good here. Three points for us are very important because we are still have a chance to be in a Europa position.

"We were being very competitive away and then the last two away matches we have lost. Today is a big challenge. Tottenham are feeling better after they won last week."
