'Sami Allardici' has never challenged for the Champions League. Let alone qualified.

    Durds

Second half will be Newcastle’s now. Leeds not good enough this season or last. Got lucky last year to stay up. Not even Big Sam can save them now.

Rodrigo curls a teasing ball in from the right. It bounces off Patrick Bamford and doesn't fall kindly for Robin Koch.

At the other end, Callum Wilson smashes one dangerously wide and over the bar. It took a touch off Rasmus Kristensen on the way.

Adam Forshaw, on at half-time for Sam Greenwood, makes an early impression, hassling Newcastle's back four and winning a throw-in deep in their half.

It comes to nothing though with Nick Pope able to gather it in comfortably.

The sun is shining and fans are smiling around Old Trafford as this afternoon's game approaches.

Newcastle being held by Leeds at the moment will please some supporters as it means a win against Wolves this afternoon and they will move level on points with them in third.

However, hanging onto a place in the top four - and with it securing Champions League football next season - is the priority, and Manchester United are looking over their shoulders at a resurgent Liverpool who are just one point behind them.

Boss Erik ten Hag has used his programme notes to underline that Manchester United are in the driving street in the pursuit of their goal. "We know that three wins from our four remaining Premier League games will guarantee the outcome we want," he writes.

Against a Wolves side who are now assured of Premier League safety, Ten Hag will be expecting the first of those three wins to come today.

In response to Bigos, the fat lady may have to wait a moment because I think Big Sam still has some words to say here!

Patrick Bamford just didn't look confident. He's stepped in big games in the past but his penalty wasn't well struck.

We all know what he has done for Leeds, he's the figure head at the top of the pitch but he'll be really disappointed because that's the big moment in this first half.

Why oh why do I put myself through this stress being a Leeds fan. As soon as I heard Paddy was taking pen would have bet my house on a miss. Side before self

    Mo

Bamford has never been a player who copes with pressure. Saw it in the Championship too.

    Anon

I hate fans getting on Bamford back. We all know he lacks composure sometimes but the problem this season more than anything has been our terrible defending and poor recruitment.

    H

He may have missed a pen but in Bamf we trust! A bit of violin practice at half time, a stirring team talk from Allardycio and he'll be back on song!

    A fascinating half of football.

Luke Ayling, of all people, getting Leeds ahead and then it swings on two penalties.

Newcastle look composed coming forward but I think overall both managers won't be too disappointed with how it stands.

    Well. That was some half.

Patrick Bamford's penalty was saved by Nick Pope and Callum Wilson went straight up the other end to equalise from the spot.

It cancelled out Luke Ayling's early opener so we're all square. Plenty to play for!

The atmopshere is still there but it's very tense. Leeds just need to find a bit of composure.

Sam Allardyce will be happy with how it has gone so far. Yes, they've missed a penalty but they are competing well with Newcastle.
