Paul: It would be bad if Arsenal didn’t win league because of a draw at home to Southampton but those results can happen. I mean an awful Everton team under Lampard went to the Etihad and drew with Man City as well.

  4. 'We still have two finals to go'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    FT: Chelsea 2-2 Nottingham Forest

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi speaking to Premier League Productions: "It was a good game. Obviously we know how good they are as a team and we came here with the spirit and togetherness and we had a plan and it worked. Unfortunately we didn't get the three points.

"The most important thing was to get the goals and that brought us into the game. Many times we sat off but that's the game plan and that's what we did. It helped us as a team and individually to earn the draw today.

"Obviously when they score those two quick goals, you feel bad but that is football and you just have to believe in yourself and your team-mates and keep going and in the end we got the point

"I think for every striker, you always want to score every game. As a striker, you have to bring your team-mates in. It was a good ball from Brennan [Johnson] and if they don't bring the ball into the box, there is no way I can get the chance to score so it is all teamwork.

"We still have two finals to go, the next one is Arsenal and from there we will see what happens."

Plenty of pictures showing disappointed Saints players - shame there was no fight, grit or determination while they had the chance.

It has been a proud record for Southampton bringing players through the academy but it just isn't enough. They might need a big clear out.

You look at teams that have come back from the Championship and they have a core. What is the core of this Southampton side? Is James Ward-Prowse going stay?

    It's going to be difficult.

    FT: Southampton 0-2 Fulham

    Southampton

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse on BBC Final Score: "Disappointing. It has been coming.

"We knew we were in a difficult position.

"We need to go away individually and as a club and assess if we've done everything we possibly could. I don't think we have and that is a shame.

"I think as a team and a club overall we'll think about the season that has gone by. Have decisions been right? Have we done everything we could on a pitch?

"I think we should perform at a better level than we have done. From the first day of the season until now you can tell the standards have slipped."

Southampton gave us some good memories and players in their 10-year PL stint (like Lallana and Mane) but their squad has just been getting weaker, with Ward-Prowse the only quality really. Hasenhuttl did well to keep this squad up last season, needed someone like Hodgson with experience to save them mid season. Can't say how they'd get back..

    Adam

Toothless from Chelsea again. Surely time for Lampard to go? Maybe make a move for Hodgson and savage something from the last few games.

Cem: If Arsenal don’t win the league because of two dropped points at home against Southampton just recently, it will be a huge embarrassment.

United dropped really deep, knowing that Wolves would pile players forward.

Then they end up with a two on one, Garnacho was very clever, didn't panic. He beat the defender and dragged his shot off the base of the post.
