  1. 'Performance not particularly strong'published at 21:29 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    FT: Everton 1-4 Arsenal

More from Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall speaking to Sky Sports: "We need to keep on going as a group. We’ve handled challenges and adversity before this and we need to do that again, there are two more games to go. It’s just very unfortunate. I know there is zero intention of the Everton player for having that outcome. It’s just reckless and sometimes that happens if you go in with too much pace. This injury here is very different to other injuries that we have got during the season."

On Caitlin Foord’s performance: “She was very good today. She took off right where she left when she got injured against Man City, so that was very nice to see.

"I don’t think our performance was particularly strong today but the result was good. But we know we need to be much, much better on Sunday against Chelsea. I’m happy to win a football match, a little disappointed with our performance. I’m really sorry about Lia Walti [her injury] – we’re allowed to feel that today and then we’re going to focus on Chelsea on Sunday."

Pernille Harder left two lines of West Ham defenders watching her in the first phase and then dropped off the shoulder.

It's a cool and calm finish as always from Harder.

Easy-peasy. A cross is headed clear to Sophie Ingle who does brilliantly to pick out Pernille Harder and the Dane makes no mistake finding the bottom corner from about eight yards out.

Fast start to the second half for Chelsea as Sophie Ingle meets a loose ball on the edge of the back, striking a fierce shot which Mackenzie Arnold does well to tip over the bar.

From the corner, the Hammers eventually scramble the ball away.

  9. 'Walti will probably be out for some time'published at 21:18 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    FT: Everton 1-4 Arsenal

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevall speaking to Sky Sports: “You need to be very good with your pressing because it’s a fine balance between you being successful and winning the ball and them being successful and playing out of the press, so they’re a challenging team to play against if you don’t get the pressing right. We got it right enough times in the first half to get a good result.

On injury to Lia Walti: “We can all see it’s a reckless challenge and it hits our player really badly. Of course we’re really sorry for losing Lia probably for some time, we need to assess it of course. Also thinking about her as she also has the World Cup to play this summer so there’s a lot of emotions and thoughts.

  10. 'At both ends we need to be better'published at 21:16 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    FT: Everton 1-4 Arsenal

    Everton

Everton manager Brian Sorensen speaking to Sky Sports: Are you going to need to change your possession-based style against the top teams? "No way. We have 55% possession in the first half, we just need to learn to be switched on in those transition moments but I still believe the way forward is to build an identity and a playing style.

That team [Arsenal] almost made it to the Champions League final, they’re a really good team, and we can still play with them so that’s what I’m focusing on. Defensively we need to be sharper than we have in the last two games and that’s something we can practise but I’ll never go to just kicking long balls. At both ends we need to be better. When we get that right we can compete with them!

On the red card: "I just talked to Aggie Beever-Jones, she was really, really sad. Of course she didn’t mean to do it but that’s football sometimes. She doesn’t lift her foot, she does come in with a lot of force. You can argue that it’s a red, we don’t complain about it but [the referee should] stick to what you see instead of changing your mind."

  11. 'Hayes could make changes'published at 21:14 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    HT: West Ham 0-1 Chelsea

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-England international on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's great to go 1-0 up but Chelsea will be expecting more from their attacking players.

The level has dropped and Emma Hayes might need to make some substitutions or possibly tweak the tactics.

  12. 'It wasn't good enough'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    FT: Everton 1-4 Arsenal

    Everton

Everton manager Brian Sorensen speaking to Sky Sports: “We don’t 100% do what we want to do. Before the goals came we played through them and we looked really comfortable, then we switch off and it’s the softest goals I’ve seen for some time. Whereas the Chelsea goals [in the 7-0 defeat] were quality.

"I was calm at half-time against Chelsea but I was not calm this time because it was just not good enough. We saw a reaction in the second half, of course it was hard when we got that red card, at least we showed some courage and toughness."

  13. Postpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    HT: West Ham 0-1 Chelsea

As things stand, Chelsea are two points clear of Manchester United at the top of the WSL table with just two games to go.

They'd have played the same amount of matches as United too.

  14. 'Frustration for Chelsea'published at 21:06 British Summer Time 17 May 2023

    Claire Rafferty
Ex-England international on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Chelsea will be frustrated that they haven't grabbed a second.

It looked like they were knocking on the door but it's a much slower pace now and West Ham have grown into the game.

Five minutes to go in the first half. When Chelsea went ahead in the 13th minute I thought we'd see a gluttony of goals.

Yes the Blues have been the better side, but West Ham are growing in confidence by the minute.

Rare chance for the Hammers as Lisa Evans goes clear down the right. She puts in a wonderful delivery but Viviane Asseyi's header flies just wide of the far post.

This game is far from over at 1-0.
