Manuel Akanji has recovered from that clash with Casemiro as he shields the ball well from Aaron Wan-Bissaka to let it run out for a goal kick.

It's going to be interesting to see how Manchester United develop play from deep areas.

They've been improving on that approach all season but it's so tough to achieve it against an aggressive Man City.

For all the talk about Ten Hag, Man Utd secured one more point this season than they did under OGS in his first full season. Are they really that much better now?

All the noise is coming from City's fans but United won't panic. They have been behind before in this season's FA Cup - against both West Ham and Fulham - before coming back to win both games 3-1. But they need to get a grip - and quickly.

Oof. Manuel Akanji is caught on the inside of his ankle by Casemiro and that is a painful one. No booking, VAR has a check to see if it should be anything more but nothing is given.

Eamonn: Is Gundogan the best spring/summer time player ever!?

Paul: Utd are pathetic. Let’s not pretend they’ve had a good season. A CL place was minimum expectation and the carabao cup means nothing and as soon as city win that again next season the hypocrites of Utd fans will be saying carabao cup doesn’t matter themselves again

This has been blistering start by Manchester City. One up and two other chances inside the first five minutes.

Casemiro is gesturing to his Manchester United team-mates to stay calm. He has seen it all. Suppose he is working on the logic they have loads of time left but this has been an ominous opening to say the least.

Tell me why it is Man City will not give Gundogan whatever he wants to renew his contract?? He has been superb all season and tops it off with that stunner!

Erik ten Hag has been stood with his hands on his hips, calling out to his players to try and get them into the right positions.

I think he feels they have been mentally scrambled by conceding so early and are not following the patterns he set out for them before kick off.

Ten Hag has said a few times this season that Manchester United are good at bouncing back from setbacks in following games but what they are not good at is responding to them during games.

They have to respond to this.

If United fans hadn't been so vocal about scraping 4th and reaching a cup final we wouldn't be enjoying this so much.

Better play from Manchester United as Casemiro has a shot blocked before Bruno Fernandes is flagged offside as he tries to reach a cross.

Erik ten Hag's side need a settled period after that fast start by Manchester City.

Surely someone needs to be questioning Lindelof with that goal. Why is he letting it bounce before heading it. Poor poor defending.

The City fans are bouncing around making an absolutely deafening din, bellowing out "Blue Moon" and now a rendition of "The Boys in Blue are coming after you"... only stopping singing when their side look threatening, which is pretty often actually.

The United half of the stadium is almost completely silent, as you'd expect after a start like that, apart from a small pocket of fans on their feet behind David de Gea's goal, who are trying to give their side some encouragement.

De Gea needs to remember he can actually move. Twice now in 5 minutes he has been motionless. Could be a cricket score if he keeps this up.

David de Gea has had two attempts at his goal already and there's nothing he can do.

You expect City to pop it about at the back from kick-off but they opted to go long and United couldn't cope.

You can't legislate for type of finish.
