England will kick themselves if they let Denmark back into this game.

They could have scored a couple more goals and killed this game off already.

At the moment the game is proving a bit of a grind.

The two England players who have made the most line-breaking passes are full backs Lucy Bronze and Rachel Daly (nine each). Between them it's only one fewer than Denmark have done (19).

Definitely need to see Beth England on for 30 mins

Russo not looking anywhere near scoring. Meanwhile, we have a Golden Boot winner with 22 goals last season playing at LB. Big club bias still alive and well! Madness.

    Tim

Rach: I’d like to see Beth England come on and get a chance leading the attack. Did well with an underperforming Spurs in WSL

Mary Earps is the last remaining player from the spine of the Euros winning side [currently on the pitch].

Williamson, Walsh, Kirby out injured, White now retired.

    More important than ever.

    England 1-0 Denmark

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's great to see the impact Daly and Alex Greenwood have had down the left-hand side. And obviously, Lauren James has had a massive impact on that as well.

  10. 'Great battle between Bronze and Harder'published at 59 mins

    England 1-0 Denmark

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

It's a good battle between Bronze and Harder, every set-piece they are tussling.

Harder did well there to get her body in the way to prevent Bronze from winning that header cleanly.

England will be caught out at the back. Often they just leave one defender and the rest charge forward and come back too slowly.

    England aren't pressing enough

It is now three corners in quick succession for England as they look to move two goals clear. Lucy Bronze absolutely charges at the delivery, gets up above Pernille Harder, but the header is wide.

Lovely skill from Lauren James, a step over, a nutmeg of Rikke Sevecke and she wins a corner, which Denmark smuggle behind for another England corner.

Sulaimon: We are yet to see the best of Russo. She definitely needs a goal to get up and running

Baz: Only one winner, here, and they're not wearing white.

    England 1-0 Denmark

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chloe Kelly loves getting past the full-back but what I'm seeing in the middle is Alessia Russo is just too early to arrive in the box, and Lauren James too.

  17. 'Gaps too big between the lines'published at 10:44 British Summer Time 28 July 2023

    England 1-0 Denmark

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

The gaps between the England defence and midfield are far, far too big.

Whether it is a lack of communication or the defence choosing to drop off I'm not sure.

Denmark are being given the chance to pick up the ball and run, eat up the space.

Another bright mark for Denmark. Jannie Thomsen is able to get the ball on the right side of the penalty area and she crosses.

It is met first time by Kathrine Kuhl but the flicked finish, with the outside of the right peg, is an unconvincing one and easily dealt with by Mary Earps in the England goal.

Nervy at the back from England and Millie Bright's pass is a bit light, but Alex Greenwood is alert and produces a much-needed saving sliding tackle to deny Denmark being through on Mary Earps.

    England 1-0 Denmark

England have a three-on-three breakaway. Chloe Kelly with a pass behind Alessia Russo, when goalscorer Lauren James was on the left.

The move loses momentum before Russo can't find a team-mate and a promising opportunity breaks down tamely.
