  1. 'Bronze not worth risking for the next round'published at 64 mins

    China 1-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sarina Wiegman does have the capability to make changes. The game would be impacted by taking Lucy Bronze off [she is now on a booking] but she is not worth risking for the next round.

  2. England need to regain controlpublished at 62 mins

    China 1-3 England

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Hindmarsh Stadium

England were brilliant in the first half but they have just been shaken up a bit.

They need to regain control. Millie Bright has just gestured to calm things down. The midfielders have been switched and they haven't quite clicked yet.

  3. 'Coombs needs to get into the game'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 1-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Laura Coombs need to get into this game a little bit more and link passing across the pitch like we saw in the first half.

It is a different China side this half. Yang Lina strikes at goal from 25 yards out and it is just over Mary Earps' goal, although the England keeper looked to have it covered anyway.

    Haiti 0-1 Denmark

It's been all Haiti across the first 15 minutes of the second half, they're peppering crosses into the Denmark box but can't get that one clear-cut chance.

The tournament debutants are still chasing their first World Cup goal remember.

That is the second most ridiculous decision of this game from VAR. What is she supposed to do with her arm?

    China have capitalised.

It'll be interesting to see if they get a little bit more aggressive in their mid-block.

  8. 'That moment didn't have to happen'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 1-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I would be just as frustrated as Mary Earps because that moment didn't have to happen.

It was a transitional moment in midfield in a dangerous area. Possession was given to the Chinese and they capitalised off the back of a Lucy Bronze handball.

  9. Unsuccessful mind gamespublished at 13:23 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 1-3 England

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Hindmarsh Stadium

That's the first goal Mary Earps has conceded at this World Cup.

She tried all her usual mind games but, though they were successful in the penalty shootout at the Finalissima [when England beat South American champions Brazil 4-2 on spot-kicks], they weren't here.

    Wang Shuang (penalty)

Wang Shuang becomes the first player to score past Mary Earps in this tournament.

Earps dives to her left, Wang Shuang, who also netted in the 1-0 win over Haiti, strokes the penalty down the middle and a lifeline for China.

  11. PENALTY to Chinapublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 0-3 England

The referee, after a review, decides the ball hit the outstretched arm of Lucy Bronze, just before she pulled the arm away.

China are delighted with the decision, Bronze gets a booking too.

    China 0-3 England

    Karen Bardsley

It looks as though it hit Lucy Bronze's left arm in an attempt to block the goal.

  13. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

China may have a penalty here, for a handball against Lucy Bronze in a goalmouth scramble.

  14. Postpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 0-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It needed saving, it was dipping inside Mary Earps' goal.

Earps has very, very high standards.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 54 mins

    China 0-3 England

China's first attempt on target, but Mary Earps, as she has every time she has been called on this tournament, gets down well to her right to push Wu Chengshu's shot wide.

It's a very good save indeed as the ball zipped up just in front of the England keeper.

  16. Postpublished at 52 mins

    China 0-3 England

Laura Coombs wins a free-kick and Alex Greenwood takes it but Lucy Bronze, once again attacking from deep, isn't tall enough to connect and the ball just goes over her head.

  17. 'Wouldn't mind another James goal'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 0-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I wouldn't mind seeing another Lauren James goal now.

I cannot believe her second one wasn't give but that's why I'm not a referee.

  18. 'Wise to bring Coombs on'published at 49 mins

    China 0-3 England

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's really wise for Sarina Wiegman to bring on Laura Coombs to get some big game experience at this tournament.

She links up play, she does the simple things well which is wildly effective and incredibly important.

  19. Postpublished at 48 mins

    China 0-3 England

A rare error from Lucy Bronze, giving the ball away and that enables Lou Jiahui to run at goal, but she doesn't have the pace to pull clear and England manage to get bodies back and clear.

  20. Postpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 1 August 2023

    China 0-3 England

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at Hindmarsh Stadium

A wise decision from Sarina Wiegman to bring off Georgia Stanway, who has played 180 minutes on a booking. We know she has a reputation for being a bit "on the edge" so that ensures she would be available for the last 16 and not suspended.
