Brooke Norton-Cuffy has emerged as an outlet for Coventry down the right.

Luton are busy enough to snuff him out. Then Callum Doyle steps forward, Coventry threaten again. No route through.

Gustavo Hamer is dropping deeper to get involved but then there's no one up to accompany Viktor Gyokeres when the ball goes to him.

The Cov fans have at last found their voice. It might not be much but their team are ending this half a lot stronger than they started it.

Did they simply freeze? And have they found their feet at last?

Or could Luton just not sustain their amazing physicality?

The Sky Blue army is stirring!

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Foul by Gabe Osho for a shirt pull on Viktor Gyokeres gives Coventry a free-kick.

It's helped in, cleared. Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Gustavo Hamer work passes trying open up and angle before the latter curls in.

Ethan Horvath gathers, but then he and Reece Burke sink to the turf.

Coventry still can't convert. It was a collision between the two Luton players.

    That’s a lot better.

Viktor Gyokeres wasn’t giving it up and a few good passes later and Gustavo Hamer is very nearly in at the far post, but he just couldn’t keep his shot down.

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Just as the Coventry fans rise and rumble with their team on the attack, Luton snare back possession.

Luke McNally has to get back to distract Carlton Morris and shut down the move.

Better from the Sky Blues but it's still Luton who look like they've settled into the Wembley groove.

Coventry finally get a decent ball into the box, with Jake Bidwell set away down the left.

It's curled to the back post but with Ethan Horvath beaten, Gustavo Hamer can't get his foot over the ball and it's over.

Alfie Doughty is doing really well, driving Brooke Norton-Cuffey back into the area, he delivers a ferocious cross and I think it's a little bit harsh to give a handball there, but I suppose his arm is up in an unnatural position.

  10. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 41 mins

Luton have the ball in the net for a THIRD time, but this one doesn't count.

It all comes from Marvelous Nakamba who wins possession in midfield, who picks out Alfie Doughty on the left.

He heads for the box, wins a block tackle and shoots, Ben Wilson's save can't quite keep it out, but as the Sky Blues clear it comes off the hand of Elijah Adebayo and in.

Handball. No goal. But another threat.

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

I’ve counted seven or eight long balls and I don’t think Coventry have won any of them.

You don’t expect to win all of them but you have to win some of them.

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Luton get the ball up quickly again and again Coventry are spooked, conceding possession for a throw.

Amari'i Bell sends in a curling cross which is stabbed towards goal by Carlton Morris but it's saved.

Possession ceded again, good hold up play by Elijah Adebayo then tees up Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu, but his shot thumps off a Coventry leg and away.

He's doing everything for a goal.

Coventry get the ball into midfield but before they can think of what to do with it, Luton are hassling and harrying.

Mark Robins is roaring out instructions, hand gestures and commands to a team that looks out of sorts.

Ben Sheaf retains possession, the ball goes out to Brooke Norton-Cuffy on the right but a combination of Jordan Clark and Alfie Doughty halt his progress.

Simon Atkins: Luton making Coventry look like a struggling bottom six side. Something needs to change soon if there is going to be a turn around.

Josh Earl: Brilliant centre forward play from Elijah Adebayo. That assist is better than scoring a goal.

Paul: Luton deserve that goal. I don’t know how Coventry usually play as I haven’t watched them before but so far here they are absolute rubbish.

Good job a play-off final is 90 or 120 minutes...

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Viktor Gyokeres had better have put some factor 50 on, because he's spent most of this game so far for Coventry in the glare of the sun with little to influence. Toil is the word.

Coventry have been starved of the ball.

Luton get the ball out to Cody Drameh on the right, after Alfie Doughty won possession, but Elijah Adebayo can only turn his cross over the bar with a powerful header.

  16. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Kyle McFadzean goes up and heads away a ball tossed into the Coventry box, but Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu is the man who latches onto the second-ball.

Another ball into the box, Carlton Morris and Brooke Norton-Cuffy go down, but it's a Cov free-kick.

Those long balls are causing chaos.

  17. 'Got to hit the target'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 27 May 2023

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

    Leon Barnett
Former Luton defender on BBC Three Counties Radio

He’s got to hit the target. Once again it’s that long, direct ball and Coventry can’t seem to deal with it.

It’s a great chance. He swings a leg but it’s a bit rash for me and he needs a bit more composure.

There seems to be no communication and no drive in the Coventry team.

They don’t look like they want to be here. There’s no fight or desire to get that equalising goal.

Well you could not say that one was not coming!!!

Elijah Adebayo bullied Coventry into submission, and then a great finish from Jordan Clark down the inside-left channel as the Sky Blues were sliced open like a can of beans.

The only consolation for Coventry right now is that it is the fourth time Luton have taken the lead against City this season - and the Hatters are still to beat them!

  19. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Luton come close again and it's Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu who has the opportunity but it sails wide.

It was another long ball, high up to Carlton Morris this time, but the Hatters are beating the three Coventry centre-backs in the air and the knockdowns are proving devastating.

Mark Robins needs his side to rediscover composure.

  20. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Luton 1-0 Coventry

Gustavo Hamer picks up the ball and steams forward for Coventry, but in the end he's outmuscled by the scrambling Luton defence.

It gives the Sky Blues fans a lift though, and their roar their approval.

At the moment, their detail is off and Luton are relentless.
