    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

That is incredible, you need to watch the highlights tonight to see that. Peacock-Farrell plays a brilliant ball right to Price's feet and Schmeichel makes a brilliant save as that was going in.

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

The visitors almost snatch as equaliser against the run-of-play as Bailey Peacock-Farrell picks out Issac Price free on the right.

The teenager goes through on goal but his angled drive is superbly pushed over by Kasper Schmeichel.

  4. Gone with the Wind?published at 21:04 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has a decision to make here.

His side were clearly set up to defend and they did that well in the first half, but that goal changes the whole dynamic.

Do they continue to sit deep and look to frustrate Denmark - perhaps with an eye on goal difference against the top seed in the group - or do they take a risk and try ton get back in the game.

Mind you, it might not be in their hands as the Danes - on the pitch and in the stands - look and sound galvanised by that Jonas Wind goal.

  5. 'Crazy' play from NI - O' Neillpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

That was crazy. We have a free-kick 15-yards from the edge of the box and we end up with Peacock-Farrell having to make a great save.

We need another guy on with Lavery up front to get something out of the game.

  6. Postpublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

Bailey Peacock-Farrell comes to Northern Ireland's rescue as he keeps out Rasmus Hojlund's fierce shot after the Atalanta striker is sent clear by a trademark Christian Eriksen throughball.

Complete change from the first half with Northern Ireland now hanging on.

  7. 'Struggle' ahead for NI now - O'Neillpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

With the quality of this side now, we will struggle to see the ball at all in this second half.

Denmark have definitely upped the pace, but we should have expected that.

  8. Postpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

So close to another Denmark goal as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg lets rip from 30 yards and the ball whistles just past the Northern Ireland woodwork.

Big 10 minutes coming up for the visitors as Denmark pile on the pressure.

  9. 'So disappointing' - O'Neillpublished at 20:56 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

We have gone to sleep. We have tried to move forward, but when Bradley loses the ball we lose our shape.

Wind wasn't going to miss from there, it was a great finish. All the good work from the first-half has gone out the window. So disappointing.

Now we are going to have a test of character, the pressure is off them.

  10. goal

GOALpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 1-0 Northern Ireland

Jonas Wind fires Denmark in front two minutes after the restart.

It comes from poor Northern Ireland defending as Ciaron Brown fails to deal with a cross to the backpost and the ball pops up for Wind to slam home from close range.

That's Plan A out the window then.

It has been a great learning experience for the young players tonight and they have performed well. Hopefully they can do more of the same in the second-half.

  14. O'Neill will be 'delighted' - Feeneypublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    HT: Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Warren Feeney
Former Northern Ireland striker on BBC Radio Ulster

I think Michael will be delighted. I have been disappointed with this Danish team, there has been no tempo to them. We need to watch with Trai Hume, he is getting isolated a little bit but they have been very comfortable.

  16. O'Neill lauds 'outstanding' NI defensive performancepublished at 20:38 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

Defensively, Northern Ireland have done all they needed to do. They have been outstanding. The only problem is we can't get enough of the ball to go forward.

  17. Northern Ireland frustrating their hostspublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Mark Sterling
    BBC Sport NI

That's a half of football that Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill will be pleased with.

His team offered very, very little in an attacking sense but, against a Denmark side 43 places above them in the world rankings, they have produced a defensive display that has frustrated their hosts.

And a team that includes a number of young and inexperienced players added to that frustration by taking as long as possible with every throw-in and set-piece they took.

They'll be glad of a rest now and will be buoyed by getting to this stage at 0-0.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

    Job done - so far!

The plan is working just grand as Denmark fail to find a way past a resolute Northern Ireland defence.

A couple of half-chances here and there and that's about it while Shayne Lavery tested Kasper Schmeichel at the other end.

But can Northern Ireland keep it going for another 45 minutes as legs tire at the Parken Stadium?

Postpublished at 20:31 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

Another concern as Conor Bradley goes down with a knee injury.

He's looks in bad shape and is helped off the pitch as play resumes.

But to the relief of Michael O'Neill the Liverpool full-back returns to action.

  20. 'Like a rugby tackle' - O'Neillpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Denmark 0-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

That was like a rugby tackle. It is ridiculous that he has given Denmark a free-kick for that.
