On seeing former team-mate and Malta international Jodi Jones: "He is a good friend of mine and been unfortunate injuries. he's a tricky player and someone we need to be aware of tonight."

On speculation about his future: "[I've just had] blinkers on, focused on the job at hand. The positive about the games being with England is that we had a slight break so was good to refresh and refocus. I'm focused and looking forward to it."

The 20-year-old was already at St George's Park as part of an England Under-21 preparation camp.

There are no plans to call Colwill up for these Euro 2024 qualifiers as he is set to be in the U21 squad for this summer's European Championships.

For what seemed like an eternity, Scotland's big tournament hiatus endured for 23 years before they finally found a way back on to the big stage with their appearance at the 2020 European Championship finals.

The Scots' next opponents in the race for a place at Euro 2024 find themselves embroiled in a similarly interminable cycle of failure.

Norway last graced a major tournament in 2000 - coincidentally their only appearance at a European Championship so far, which is something of a surprise.

Current head coach Stale Solbakken trooped off the pitch after a listless stalemate in Arnhem against Slovenia alongside team-mates John Carew, Stefan Iversen, Tore Andre Flo and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, unaware that 23 years of misery lay ahead. And they are still counting.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson speaking on the BBC Football Daily podcast about England's returning Man City quartet: "I remember a few years ago when me and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] came back and it was tough because of the emotions around it. How you felt the highs and then the next few days. They'll have been on a mad journey over the last few days, weeks and months. I bet it's been emotional for them and it might take them a few days to get back to normal. Hopefully they come back and they can help us in the two games."

Reflecting on the season: "It's been a really long season for a lot of players. Some of us have managed to have time off but still training every day to be ready for this. Yes, we've had a change of scenery in the last week or two but we are ready for these matches."

"I'm thinking if Jack walks in with his medals around his neck he'll have probably got a few stares, and you can imagine him doing it as well, with the sort of character he is. It's been an amazing season, especially for Jack with the big move for a lot of money, but I think he's been brilliant this season.

"It takes a long time [to adapt] but you've got to give him credit.

"He's come back and shown people what he's about. He'll probably turn up and be Man of the Match in the next England game. He'll be on such a high and ready to go again."

Jude Bellingham has become the world's third most-expensive teenager by completing a 103m euro move to Real Madrid.

Only Kylian Mbappe and Joao Felix have cost more in their teens than Real have paid Borussia Dortmund for the England midfielder.

Bellingham was wanted by a host of Europe's top clubs and aged just 19, he was one of England's standout performers at last year's World Cup.

Here BBC Sport charts his path from a humble youngster at Birmingham City to a superstar. Read more here.

England defender Kieran Trippier on the BBC Football Daily podcast: "The lads have had time to rest, reflect, reset and we've got two massive games. We want to qualify for the Euros. It's going to be a challenge but one that we are ready for."

On speaking to Jude Bellingham about his experience of living in Madrid: "It was important to maybe have a little chat with him. What he can expect about living there, the people. But Jude is an old head on young shoulders. He's a bright lad and got a great family to support him. I'm delighted for him.

"For me, when I first went there it was difficult with communication and stuff. We spoke about him maybe learning Spanish as quickly as possible. It's great to see English players going abroad and testing themselves. I'm delighted for all the English players playing abroad and Jude deserves it."

On City and West ham's European success: "You see all the lads winning trophies now and that can only help us a team. It's huge for England that the lads are winning more titles because that's what we want to do for England."

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

There are question marks over Trent Alexander-Arnold and also massive positives.

That's what most managers will battle with and I think Gareth Southgate has got other players on that right side that can do a bit of both.

Going forward, for me, he's one of the best in that position.

This is a bit of a compromise. Can he play in that role? There's a lot of different things you need to do in the middle of the park and he hasn't played in that role very often.

For Eberechi Eze, he has come into this squad with so much energy. A smile on his face, infectious character, makes you want to smile.

He also suffered a really bad injury early in his career.

He's dealing with the adversity, he's shown the resilience and come through the other side, but that is all part of it. Part of the learning experience for him.

Wales will be aiming to climb to the top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group when they host Armenia tonight.

They are second in Group D on goal difference after a creditable draw in Croatia and home win over Latvia.

With leaders Croatia in Nations League action this week, Wales have two chances to usurp them with a trip to Turkey on Monday to come after Armenia.

"We want six points. That's our mentality going into it," said Wales manager Rob Page.

"You win your home games and if you get a point away you're on to a good thing.

"The mentality in the changing room at the minute is that we believe we can go on to get the two wins."

It's been quite a week for Manchester City's Treble winners following their victory in the Champions League final.

After celebrating their win over Inter Milan in Istanbul, the squad flew to Manchester then Ibiza for a party on Sunday night.

They returned to Manchester for the club's trophy parade on Monday, with another party booked that night.

Among the England stars celebrating were Jack Grealish and John Stones, who started the European final, and substitutes Phil Foden and Kyle Walker. Kalvin Phillips was an unused substitute.

Gareth Southgate said he would see how each of them were this week but perhaps wisely, none of them start today.

When you watch Jude Bellingham and you listen to him, it's not as if you have to watch his character or watch what he's like away from the pitch. You can tell that he's totally driven.

When Real Madrid are making this signing they are going to assess the character and what he's like off the pitch. You're getting a flawless guy who is addicted to football, super fit, teenager. He can run. he's got great energy, he's skilful, he's got great personality.

He will probably end up captaining the football club in five or 10 years time. That's the destiny, that's the path that he's on. For Real Madrid, it's a no-brainer."

Eberechi Eze's journey to the England squad has not been straightforward.

Turned down by four clubs before signing a professional deal with Queens Park Rangers, the Crystal Palace midfielder has had to deal with rejection, doubters, loan deals and a major injury that kept him out of the game for a year.

All of that seems a world away from where he is now - in the England squad for European qualifiers. Hopefully his chance will come soon...
