The Scotland fans are more than playing their part, singing and dancing and generally lapping up the moment.

Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says the next stage for his team is picking up points in big away games.

Asked how they continue their positive momentum from the opening two fixtures, he tells Viaplay: "More of the same, hopefully. It's different opposition and different conditions.

"Norway will give us different problems to those Spain and Cyprus did. Hopefully it's a good performance with more points to build on.

On Erling Haaland, Clarke adds: "I think the threat from any goal-scoring centre-forward is there to be seen. Haaland has had a brilliant season. It's up to us to limit the chances and hopefully he has an off night."

  14. Pre-match stat packpublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 17 June 2023

    Norway v Scotland (17:00)

    • The last meeting between Norway and Scotland was back in November 2013 in a friendly, with the Scots winning 1-0 thanks to a goal from Scott Brown.
    • Scotland have only lost three of their previous 18 meetings with Norway.
    • Norway have won just four of their last 16 Euro qualifiers, with all four wins coming against the Faroe Islands (two) and Malta (two).
    • Scotland last won their opening three qualifiers for a major tournament in Euro 2008 qualifying, under Walter Smith.
    • Norway's current seven-game run without a clean sheet is their worst since an 11-game stretch between May 2016 and June 2017.
    • Scotland have suffered just three defeats in their last 18 matches in all competitions, keeping 10 clean sheets across these games.
    • Norway’s Alexander Sorloth has scored five goals in his last six appearances in Euro qualifying.
    • Scotland’s Scott McTominay has scored a brace in his last two appearances for the Scots - the last to score two or more goals in three appearances in a row was Hughie Gallacher between October 1929 and May 1930.
  15. 'Scotland's midfield tough to break up'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 17 June 2023

    Norway v Scotland (17:00)

It's so hard to get into this team. If you look at the midfielders we're playing tonight, you're not dropping John McGinn because of the goals he brings to the team.

Callum McGregor is one of the first names on the team sheet. Scott McTominay hasn't played that much football, but has four goals in his last two. Ryan Christie's been brilliant for Scotland.

It's so difficult to break into that midfield. Steve Clarke will be loving it.

The Tartan Army have been lapping up the Oslo sunshine in the build-up to this one and they're starting to fill the away end here.

The banners and flags have been pinned up in their end and they're ready for action. As you would expect they've travelled in their numbers, but there are so many over here without tickets.

Those lucky enough to be inside the stadium are confident that they'll see their team leave here with a positive result. Here's hoping...

  17. Avoiding defeat tonight is HUGE - here's why...published at 16:38 British Summer Time 17 June 2023

    Norway v Scotland (17:00)

I know it's only the third of eight qualifiers, but the magnitude of tonight can't be downplayed.

Despite being fourth in the group, it's fair to assume that Norway are still Scotland's biggest threat for a top-two finish. That's assuming Spain also progress.

A seismic win for Steve Clarke's side in Oslo would ensure tonight's hosts are unable to finish on more than 16 points. Go and then beat Georgia and Scotland would already be on 12 by the halfway point.

Even a draw would mean Norway's final tally couldn't be higher than 17. Three wins in their final five qualifiers would then be enough for Scotland to ensure they are guaranteed to finish above Stale Solbakken's men.

With three games against the group's bottom-two seeds - Georgia (aye, we know) and Cyprus - to come, you would surely back Clarke and his side to finish the job.

  18. Haaland pumped for homecoming - Solbakkenpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 17 June 2023

Erling Haaland was absent for Norway's opening double-header, but he is fit to face Scotland tonight.

Despite last week's treble-winning celebrations with Man City, Norway boss Stale Solbakken expects the striker to be hyped for an eagerly-anticipated homecoming.

"The Norwegian people have seen him on telly for a long time without seeing him live," Solbakken said. "I think he has had one game here in a year.

"So that will probably pump him up and give him the five to 10 percent he probably lacks due to the programme he has been through and all the feelings and emotions he has been through as well."

From St Mirren to Old Trafford - Gordon McQueen remembered

Even when his voice was compromised by cancer of the larynx, Gordon McQueen could bang out a story with all the timing and the humour of a trained comic.

It didn't matter that we might have heard some of them before. Every time, he added a flourish.

Once, we showed him a picture of his famous goal against England at Wembley in the madcap summer of 1977, him towering high to nut the ball past Ray Clemence, a prelude to the tartan pitch invasion and the annexing of English goalposts.

"You're soaring above everybody there, Gordon."

"Aye, and that's me on the way back down," he replied. "Clemence had no chance. He didn't even get it on the way back out."

  20. Scotland to tribute McQueenpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 17 June 2023

    Norway v Scotland (17:00)

Scotland will wear black armbands this evening in memory of Gordon McQueen, who died this week at the age of 70.

Steve Clarke called the Scotland legend "a giant of a man". A fitting tribute for the Leeds great.

I'll never forget his reaction to *that* Faddy goal in Paris.
