  9. 'Time for others to step up after Zaha departure'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Sheff United v Crystal Palace (15:00)

    Statman Dave
Football analyst speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live

You think about the freedom Palace playedwith last season, Eze and Olise involved in everything. Those two are going to be crucial this season.

Zaha leaving the club is massive. Top goalscorer, 33 more Premier League goals than any other player in the squad, so someone needs to step up and score some goals.

We've not really seen that level from Odsone Eduoard yet, the form he showed at Celtic when he amongst the top scorers in the Scottish League.

  10. 'An intriguing fixture'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Bournemouth v West Ham (15:00 BST)

    Ashley Williams
Former Wales captain on Final Score

I had Gary O'Neil down as manager of the year but for Bournemouth to go and try and be expansive, we'll have to see.

It is going to be an interesting game today.

  11. 'May be one more chance in it'published at 14:57 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Arsenal 2-1 Nottingham Forest

    Nathan Jones
Former Southampton manager speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think there might be one more chance in the game, but Forest need to get hold of the ball first.

At the minute Arsenal are keeping it up the other end in the corner.

  13. 'Bournemouth will be more exciting this season'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Bournemouth v West Ham (15:00 BST)

    Mark Scott
    BBC commentator

It is certainly going to be more front-foot than we saw under Gary O'Neil.

Iraola had three impressive seasons at Rayo Vallecano. Xavi actually described Rayo Vallecano under Iraola as the biggest pain in the backside in La Liga.

There are many reasons why Arsenal won't win the league and this game proves one of them. Arsenal are too nice whereas City are ruthless. Arsenal get 2 up and hit cruise control and get sloppy. City want 4, 5 and that's just Haarland. Arsenal have learned nothing from the Liverpool and West Ham games last season. Weak attitude.

Didn't I say about an hour ago, this game was not a disaster for Forest?

  17. How Sharp will the Blades be?published at 14:54 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Sheff Utd v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Harry De Cosemo
    BBC Sport at Bramall Lane

    I’m at Bramall Lane today.

The last time I was here, Sheffield United had just beaten Norwich on the charge towards a shock qualification for Europe under Chris Wilder, a week before the pandemic shut the Premier League down for three months.

They are back in the top flight but after the sales of Sander Berge and Iliman N’Diaye this summer, there is a sense of tension in the Sheffield air at their prospects under Paul Heckingbottom.

Palace begin life post-Wilfried Zaha without new signing Matheus Franca and Michael Olise. Eberechi Eze carries their creative burden.

For a moment, it looks like Kai Havertz is in after nipping past Serge Aurier. The defender (who looked to have been tugged back initially) gets back to concede a corner, which is headed away by Scott McKenna.
