  1. 'We should have won'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    FT Brentford 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to Match Of The Day: "Overall a very even game. We were better first half, created a lot of opportunity situations without creating big moments. Second half was even in many ways, and we were passive in situations at times.

"They are another good team on the pitch. We lacked a bit of quality on the ball where we could have got out of certain situations.

"We conceded a goal we don't like to concede, but we move forward. I felt like we should have won. Kevin scored a fantastic goal. We are more disappointed because we were 1-0 up. It was closer to us."

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes: "It wasn’t the perfect start for us but we kept control, kept the ball and started doing the right things. They defended well with a lot of players and it was difficult to get through, but we got the result and that’s the most important thing.

"I knew we had time to change the situation, but we kept calm. We started to keep the ball at the back and gain confidence, and after that the game was always on our side. We created a lot of shots in the first half. Overall, the performance was really good apart from those [first] four minutes.

"We know what it means to be a Manchester United player. We know this shirt demands a lot and we are ready for that. The team showed great spirit, passion and desire. We just need to be aware that we can’t concede so early."

As a Man United fan, that was absolutely shocking. As soon as we went 3-2 up Forest were the better team, United had an extra man and I could not actually tell. Should have brought Garnacho on and pushed for a 4th, McTominay and Martial useless today.

Arsenal continue with the same errors of the last months of the last season: slow starts at home, no clean sheets at home. And they play much slower than last season. At one point, the question has to be if Arteta is the right man to bring Arsenal to the next step.

There are still thousands of fans in Old Trafford chanting against the Glazer family.

The 1958 Group, who want the Glazers out of the club, have called for fans to remain behind to signal their continued opposition to the family's ownership.

There has still been no word on the conclusions of the 'strategic review' that was launched in November and which many fans hoped would lead to a sale.

  5. 'That is the soul of this team'published at 17:13 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    FT: Arsenal 2-2 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I came from an injury and it was tough for me this last month because I miss all the pre-season with my team-mates. It is really good to be back and to help my team-mates and finish the game like this. Unfortunately we didn't win but I think it is a good result. It is always tough to play against Arsenal. We came to try to win but the most important thing was the effort we showed until the end, even with 10 men.

"It was tough in the last 10 minutes. I go to the back line and we tried to give our all until the end to defend the spaces and it meant we could achieve a good result.

"The manager said we needed to give better value to the ball and we gave up a little bit of possession. We have the quality to do better with the ball. The effort was amazing from all the players and that is the soul of this team."

We know how this game will be played out - Brighton want West Ham to press them, but David Moyes' side will sit in and counter.

Brighton have had a phenomenal start, they will create chances and they score so many goals.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-0

  8. 'A stupid goal...'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    FT Brentford 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Brentford

Brentford goalscorer Kevin Schade: "We expected exactly this type of game. A tough game, but it was a stupid goal [to give away]. But one point is better than zero points. We have mixed feeling."

On his first goal for the Bees: "I have waited long enough for a first goal. It was one to remember. Obviously Ivan (Toney) is a big part of our team and we wait for him. I think we played last season without him and did well, so we're still confident.

"It's be a positive start to the season, especially against Tottenham and Fulham. Now it was okay, but we go for the three points again next week."

    Final Score at Goodison Park

The goal that broke the deadlock wasn’t pretty - but perhaps that’s to be expected from two sides that were struggling to score.

Wolves knew all they had to do was bide their time after chance after chance went begging for Everton, and just get it in the net somehow.Sean Dyche didn’t hang around at full-time and went straight down the tunnel.

More questions than answers for him from this game.

Everton have lost each of their opening three games of a league season for the first time since 1990-91. They equal their longest run of matches without scoring from the beginning of a league campaign: also three in 1971-72 and 1998-99 (both top flight).

  12. 'I think it's massive'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    FT: Everton 0-1 Wolves

    Wolves

Wolves goalscorer Sasa Kalajdzic: "I think it's massive, it's important for us that we gain confidence. We played well against Man Utd, against Brighton not so good."

Gary O'Neil's instructions: "He said some little tactical things. I just wanted to score and that's what happened."

Scoring: "It means a lot to me, but I'm healthy and that's the first thing. I'm very glad this is the case and I want to keep it like this."

Dreaming of scoring: "I was out for almost a year and now it's about step-by-step. I think we'll get even better. I dreamed of being healthy. Goals come and go."

  13. 'We changed after half-time'published at 17:06 British Summer Time 26 August 2023

    FT: Brentford 1-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Palace goalscorer Joachim Andersen: "It was a crazy game. We didn't press like we wanted. We didn't feel good in the game. But the second half was much better. We changed something at half-time. We just tried to fight and do what we could.

"Today I didn't feel like we had many opportunities with the ball, but I saw an opportunity to get forward. It was about belief that I could touch the ball before the keeper and luckily it went between his legs.

"We want to score many goals in games, but in the Premier League it's not easy. We just need to practise and hopefully those goals and chances will come."
