Douglas Luiz challenges for a ball with Billy Gilmour and he's penalised for a high foot. It's perhaps a little harsh and Luiz is disappointed he's in the book for it too.

Ooh. Billy Gilmour scoops it over the top for Pervis Estupinan. He brings it down with one touch then, under pressure, pokes it into the arms of Emiliano Martínez. An important save from the Argentine.
Aston Villa 0-0 Brighton
John McGinn is beaten for pace on the left so he pulls back Pervis Estupinan.
Brighton switch it across the back and Solly March does well under pressure to keep possession.

Anon: Villa at home are different beast. Villa will nick it slightly above Brighton.

It's so tight between these two and the way they play is so exciting, it's so similar. I think today is going to be a really interesting tactical battle particularly in the midfield. I can't wait to see what happens.

Matty Cash gives it away briefly at the back but Pau Torres reacts to mop up. Villa dominating possession early on but not much happening.

Villa were absolutely turgid to watch under Steven Gerrard, he couldn't get a song out of almost any of the players.
When Unai Emery came in he picked up the players and in a way reinvented the club.
There is no coincidence in the form book suggesting that they are close to top four, I expect them to be up there this season fighting for the Champions League.
That is the quality that the manager is extracting from the side.

Both teams losing midweek to opposition they'd be expected to beat in the cup. Gonna be interesting to see how they react!

Brighton's youngster Jack Hinshelwood gets his first touch as they win it back in midfield but Villa have settled very quickly, moving it across the back and through the centre.

Off we go at Villa Park. This could be a really good game of football between two sides in good form. Fingers crossed!

The first few games under Roberto de Zerbi stuttered a bit. It was not perfect and the team struggled to implement the style.
But now with time he has implemented his style of play to perfection.
They lost some players in the summer, but as they always seem to do, the club have replaced them and they have so much quality. Each player fits into the style of play, and it is a joy to watch.
When Graham Potter left to go to Chelsea it was a bit uncertain if things would start to unravel but they found their perfect replacement in De Zerbi.

Ollie Watkins is going to be very important today. Can he get into those channels?
Against Chelsea last week he was a constant threat on the break.

Aston Villa's women's team are set to wear the club's sweat-heavy shirts for Sunday's WSL opener against Manchester United at Villa Park.
Villa's male players have criticised the shirts, saying they are uncomfortable because they are retaining too much sweat.
BBC Sport understands Villa had hoped to resolve the issue by this weekend but that has not been possible, and talks with kit manufacturer Castore remain at a delicate stage.
The new claret and blue home shirts are the worst affected, noticeably changing colour in games as they retain moisture and cling tightly to the chest.

What Newcastle will want to do, with PSG in midweek, is finish the contest as quickly as possible so they can rest key players. Whether Burnley let them is another matter.

These players are getting better, even well into their 30s [Roberto under De Zerbi] .
It feels like Villa and Brighton are the best of the rest and teams like these probably looked at Newcastle last season and thought 'we can get in there'.
Aston Villa v Brighton (12:30 BST)
Both of these teams are in good form. Not only have Villa started the season well, Brighton have won five of their first six top-flight matches for the first time.
The Seagulls can equal the club's top-flight record of four successive victories, set from April to May 1981.
They side have scored in 22 consecutive Premier League fixtures and another one today would set a club record of scoring in 17 successive away league games.
The downside is that Brighton have gone 10 consecutive Premier League matches without keeping a clean sheet.
Everton v Luton (15:00 BST)
Luton Town
Luton boss Rob Edwards insists his team have "become more competitive" since the start of their Premier League journey.
The Hatters have one point to show from their first five Premier League games, but Edwards added: "There's no doubt against Brighton and Chelsea we gave too many big chances away.
"We have stopped doing that in the last three games. If people want to look at the games and look at the numbers, you will see improved performances, no doubt."
Edwards said he has got "decisions to make" on his team selection based on the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to League One Exeter City.
"There was some positives there on a difficult night," he added.
Tottenham v Liverpool (17:30 BST)
Tottenham forward Brennan Johnson has been ruled out because of the hamstring issue he sustained last weekend.
Midfielder James Maddison is training and should be available despite picking up a knock in the draw with Arsenal.
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is fit again after missing four games with a hamstring problem.
Jurgen Klopp says that Stefan Bajcetic has a minor calf issue and that he will join compatriot Thiago on the sidelines.
Aston Villa v Brighton (12:30 BST)
It's been a good season for Aston Villa so far.
They currently sit sixth in the table with four wins from their opening six matches.
They have won nine successive matches at home and have kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League since Unai Emery's first game in charge last November (only Manchester United, with 14, have more in that period).
Villa's tally of 55 points this year is also bettered only by Manchester City's 71.
