Man of the match already Alisson. He's made three outstanding saves in this game, the second and third in the last few minutes.

It's going to take something special to beat him again in what remains of the match.

  2. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

    Another superb stop from Allison!

This time it's Son Heung-Min who somehow manages to wrap his foot round the ball off balance and fire one towards the Liverpool goal.

  3. 'Jota kept wide for defensive abilities'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I thought with the introduction of Jota he would go central, but that has not been the case.

Jota has gone out to the right, a direct Gakpo replacement, perhaps because of his defensive abilities. For such a small guy he is so strong and able to retain possession so well. He will also run and run and run.

Salah remains central, he'll be there to create space and test Spurs going the other way in behind.

Cody Gakpo has indeed not returned to the field after seeming to injure himself while scoring the equaliser at the end of the first half.

Diogo Jota is on in his place.

  5. 'World class from Alisson'published at 18:43 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

    Stephen Warnock
Former England and Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

World class from Alisson and it had to be because that rocket of a shot from Maddison was heading into the top far corner.

At full stretch the Liverpool keeper manages to get his fingertips to it and tip it wide for a corner.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 50 mins

    Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

    Ohhh what a save!

A stunning curled effort from James Maddison just outside the area and it produces a brilliant save from Allison. Diving away, high to his right.

Liverpool will bring Nunez on to seal the deal. Going down to 10 men seems like a small inconvenience for them.

Spurs look a different animal under Ange. Their confidence is night and day compared to previous managers. You didn't see them pressing like this before.

    Tottenham 1-1 Liverpool

We're back under way at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

What has this second half got in store for us?

  11. Bowen 'as good as he's ever been'published at 18:37 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

FT: West Ham 2-0 Sheff Utd

    West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes to BBC Match of the Day after his 900th league game as a manager:

"The one thing I will say is there's never an easy game - in that 900 I can't think of an easy game. Every game is hard, winning a game in the Premier League is difficult and today was difficult but it was three really good points.

"To get a couple of goals in front was really pleasing, it gave us a bit of breathing space as we had missed a few chances before that. We didn't play as well in the second half but getting a clean sheet is a real positive because we'd not had one this season.

On five-goal top scorer Jarrod Bowen: "He's as good as he's ever been at the moment, he really is. He's sharp, he's quick, he's a threat. It was a lovely finish today but more importantly his all-round game has got much better.

"We're off to a good start in the Europa League, we've got through in the League Cup and we've had a pretty good start in the league - we've seen the results today, you take your points whenever you can.

"I don't think we are setting targets but the idea is to stay up and around the big boys, to keep competing and challenging them, which I think we have done - we've given Liverpool and Manchester City good games."

  12. 'No one is going to feel sorry for us'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

FT: West Ham 2-0 Sheff Utd

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom to BBC Match of the Day:

"There were lots of things to be positive about but ultimately we gave the ball away in a poor area of the pitch with a loose pass for their second goal - and we made a defensive error for the first goal.

"The second half was much more like us, we gave them less space and we were much more compact when we attacked which allowed us to win the ball back more often.

"But when you are 2-0 down, you are waiting for that goal that could have made it a nervy finish for West Ham - we didn't get it and that makes the game easier for them.

"We have to be better. No one is going to feel sorry for us so we can't feel sorry for ourselves. Last week was a real disappointment and I wanted to make sure that was a one-off because no one wants to experience anything like that ever again.

"But we could easily have been sitting here on a lot more points, the late goals we've conceded, the late chances where opposition goalkeepers have made unbelievable saves - and that's how fine the margins are."

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil gave an honest appraisal of his side's performance this afternoon.

They worked incredibly hard, stuck diligently to their game plan and forced Erling Haaland into the areas defensive duo Craig Dawson and Max Kilman were comfortable with.

They also benefitted from Rodri's absence due to suspension.

"Rodri missing was a big plus," he said. "He makes their team tick better."

  14. 'A frustrating match'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    FT: Wolves 2-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias speaking to Sky Sports after the loss against Wolves: "Frustrating game for us. It is never easy when a team just sits back. You have to break into them to create chances and it is not easy.

"It just gets more complicated. We have done it many times before. Today was not our brightest day.

"We didn't score enough goals to win. It is what it is. It is never easy to penetrate in a team that behaves like this. We have done it in the past and that's the difference. Today we didn't go through them enough to create our chances.

On Guardiola's touchline ban: "It is part of football. It's is always better to have him on the touchline but it is part of the game and we need to adapt to that."

  15. 'One step forward, one step back'published at 18:32 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    FT: Everton 1-2 Luton Town

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche speaking to PLP: "They did their job well and scored two goals. We dealt with the general game well in terms of few chances given away. We started changing the story, then let it come back at us.

"Apart from pull your hair out, you keep working! We are creating, we know that. The fact is the biggest stat is the scoreline. Every time we step forward, we step back again. We just let them get their game going. Credit to them. They scored two goals that we should defend better obviously.

"It's not like us overall. You have to react in the box too. They reacted better. We didn't tune into that but that's details really.

"I can't keep looking at the defensive side because we are creating so many chances. We have to score more goals if we are creating that many."

  16. 'Sometimes in difficult games you need that moment of quality'published at 18:31 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    FT: Newcastle 2-0 Burnley

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe tells Match of the Day: "Probably a shaky 10 minutes at the start. After that we were good, dominated the game, limited them, created chances and probably could have put the game to bed sooner than we did but very pleased to win again."

On Almiron's goal: "That’s what we have this season, players who are capable of producing moments like that. Sometimes in difficult games you need that moment of quality and it came from Miggy who has played really well the last few weeks. After there were chances and you need that second goal. We are grateful for the penalty and Alex’s good finish.

"I don’t think there were any moments where they really looked like scoring. It was a very tough game and I’m very pleased to get over the line and win."

On another clean sheet: "It’s huge and the team as a whole deserve great credit. We have seen a huge improvement in our defending in recent weeks."

On Joelinton's injury: "That’s the negative He’s feeling his hamstring I think. We don’t know how serious it is. It was always going to be that season where we will pick up injuries with the amount of games but it’s something we want to avoid."

On Wednesday's game against PSG: "It’s something I haven’t allowed myself to think about, I hope the players are the same. Now it is our next match hopefully it’s going to be a special occasion."

  17. 'Exceptional performance'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm really delighted for my players. Their efforts today were exceptional. We scored a terrific goal and as a result we kept that lead throughout the whole game.

"On Tuesday we didn't get a chance to show how good we can be. To win at Old Trafford is an achievement. This is one of the temples of football.

"A lot of running and effort went into the game. One or two of our players had run themselves into the ground. The back four will be first to pay credit to front players and midfield players."

  18. 'Bad start to the season'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

FT: Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, speaking to BBC MOTD: "

"It's a bad start to the season. We have to catch up. We have to do better. This is not good enough. These players can do better in the final part [of the pitch].

"I'm very disappointed. If you concede three chances and one is in after bad defending....

"Our decisions on the ball were really poor. We often got into good positions but we were not clinical enough. The decision making was not good enough. The final pass, extra pass, shot or whatever..."

Lewis: Can we get an explanation why the ref goes over the screen and the still is showing? Instant bias, show it in real time and no still and it's only a yellow, show the ref the point of contact with no context his mind will always be made up.

Colin: Liverpool have won twice this year already after going down to ten men. Worse thing that could have happened to Spurs.

Ken: Mad that that looked well onside when looking at the lines on the pitch. I just don't understand anymore.

Mike: VAR offside stills really wind me up. It never looks correct for the decision because of the tilted way they show it!
