Early couple of moments for the home side.

First Regan Slater steals possession on the top of the Sheffield Wednesday penalty area and lets go with an effort that's deflected just wide.

Then a corner is worked to Slater in space whose shot this time is held by Wednesday goalkeeper Devis Vasquez.

    Millwall 0-0 Bristol City

Millwall were dumped out of the EFL Cup by League One Reading in midweek, losing 4-0 at The Den.

As well as that result, the Lions also have to shrug off the emotion from the pre-match tributes to former chairman John Berylson and focus on the action now.

Boss Gary Rowett named an unchanged side from their opening day win at Middlesbrough, with last season's top scorer Tom Bradshaw still on the bench.

The hosts have the first real chance at the John Smith's Stadium as Brahima Diarra stabs wide after being fed by Josh Koroma.

Sorba Thomas went down in the box and wanted a penalty for the Terriers, but referee David Webb wasn't interested.

The last time Huddersfield beat the Foxes was back in 1995.

    Birmingham 0-0 Leeds

Leeds have made five changes from their draw against Cardiff last Sunday, with injured captain Liam Cooper out of the squad.

Along with Wilfried Gnonto refusing to play, forwards Crysencio Summerville and Luis Sinisterra are also missing from the matchday squad.

Charlie Cresswell, Sam Byram, Jamie Shackleton, Ian Poveda and Joe Gelhardt all come into the side.

After several high-profile departures following relegation from the top flight the Whites have only named eight subs, and two of them are keepers.

Juninho Bacuna starts in place of Tyler Roberts in Birmingham's only change from their draw at Swansea.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Leicester

Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk is making his league debut for Leicester City this afternoon at Huddersfield.

Last weekend's debutant Mads Hermansen is out of the squad entirely.

Dennis Praet, Wanya Marcal-Madivadua and Kelechi Iheanacho have come into the side which beat Coventry on the opening weekend.

Marcal-Madivadua has sent an early strike well off target.

Terriers captain Jonathan Hogg is back in midfield for the hosts.

After Barnsley thrashed Port Vale 7-0 last weekend, the Tykes will be hoping to continue that momentum as they travel to Bristol Rovers.

It wasn't the best of starts for life in League One for relegated Reading last Saturday after losing to Peterborough. They'll be hoping to get going at Port Vale.

Exeter City welcome Neil Critchley's Blackpool, while Bolton will be hoping to make it two wins in two as they face Cheltenham Town.

Portsmouth, who salvaged a point late on in their opening game against Bristol Rovers, face Leyton Orient. There hasn’t been a draw between there two sides in 10 matches across all competitions.

West Brom striker Brandon Thomas-Asante is injured and not involved as Swansea visit the Hawthorns. Swans manager Michael Duff takes his new side on the road for the first time.

The Baggies lost at Blackburn last weekend and Rovers will now hope for back-to-back wins to start the season with a trip to Rotherham.

Preston were beaten on penalties by Salford in the EFL Cup in midweek but are unchanged from last Saturday's opening day draw as North End host Sunderland, who also lost in the cup on spot kicks.

Hull were "unacceptable" in their EFL Cup defeat to Doncaster on Tuesday, according to head coach Liam Rosenior, so he'll demand a response at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

As will QPR head coach Gareth Ainsworth, who takes his side to Cardiff having been rolled 4-0 at Watford on the opening weekend.

Another relegated club, Leicester City, opened up with three points on the opening weekend and also progressed in the EFL Cup with a win at Burton.

The Foxes had Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to thank as his double saw Enzo Maresca's side come from behind to beat Coventry City 2-1 last Sunday.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, lost 3-1 at promoted Plymouth Argyle and then exited the League Cup against Middlesbrough in midweek.

Those results could auger a difficult campaign for veteran Terriers boss Neil Warnock, and this one is certainly expected to be a clash of styles.

Leicester completed 571 passes against Coventry - their most in a league game since May last year - while Huddersfield put together just 186 passes in their defeat by the Pilgrims.

Arriving earlier today, there were about 100 Millwall supporters here to greet the Berylson family to the Den as their cab pulled up outside the ground.

Pre-match there's a planned tribute to the Lions' former chairman, who died earlier this summer.

It's going to be an emotional afternoon here, that's for sure.

  19. Tributes to Berylson at Millwallpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Millwall v Bristol City (15:00 BST)

Millwall are dedicating today's match to the memory of late chairman John Berylson, who died aged 70 in a car accident in the United States last month.

The American businessman first became involved with the Championship club in 2006 and became chairman the following year.

His son James has since taken over the running of the Lions.

On the pitch, Millwall are looking to back up their opening day win at Middlesbrough, while Bristol City started the campaign with a home draw against Preston.

Brazilian striker Matheus Martins celebrates scoring for Watford on the opening day of the Championship season

This is the first time in more than a decade that Watford and Plymouth have met in a league game.

The last time the two sides met was in the Championship in 2009-10 and it was the Hornets who stung the Pilgrims into submission on both occasions.

Following their 4-0 stomping of QPR on opening weekend, Watford stumbled to an EFL Cup first-round exit in midweek.

Meanwhile, newly promoted Plymouth are undefeated in the early stages of the new campaign with a league and cup win - scoring five goals and only conceding one in the process.

Boss Steven Schumacher made an exciting addition in the form of midfielder Luke Cundle from Premier League side Wolves on season-long-loan earlier in the week, and he’s expected to feature today.

Whoever wins at Vicarage could be top of the Championship table by tonight.
