Bournemouth v Stoke City (19:45 BST)

Stoke head to the Vitality Stadium having not won in the past four Sky Bet Championship games.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, though, is expecting a stern test against Alex Neil’s side.

“You see the stats – they are top in crossing from the Championship. I think they are fourth or fifth, possession wise,” said Iraola.

“Even if they haven’t got the results, I think they are doing good things, so we have to be ready.

“For sure they will come with the hopes of making the game very difficult and giving their best. We want to be in the next round but we know we have to play a good game and earn it.”

Norwich captain Kenny McLean says the squad need to "face up to the criticism" and learn lessons quickly.

The Canaries go into their tie at Premier League Fulham on the back of a 6-2 hammering at Plymouth in the Championship.

"I'm not questioning the character in there (in the dressing room) but after that, there's lots of things to be questioned," added McLean.

"We need to put things right quickly, start winning and show how much we care. We've let everybody down."

Norwich, who are managed by David Wagner, are eighth in the Championship table - eight points off the lead.

Six weeks on from their Premier League fixture here, Aston Villa and Everton meet again in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Unai Emery's side ran out comfortable 4-0 victors in the league that day, a performance Toffees boss Sean Dyche described as a "collective off day".

"We faced each other only a few short weeks ago and achieved a good result but this evening will be a difference occasion," Emery says in the matchday programme.

"Not only is this a different competition but Everton enjoyed a good win at Brentford at the weekend so will be high on confidence."

The Spaniard is absolutely right - Everton gained their first league win of the season with an impressive 3-1 win against the Bee, as striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin came off the bench to net his first goal of the season.

The Carabao Cup is one the Englishman enjoys playing in, having netted 10 goals in as many games in the competition.

I think getting some silverware and getting the monkey off our back is a massive thing for Newcastle.

You really just need to get the first one and then other ones would follow.

I think Eddie [Howe] has not been as clear in his pre-match press conference. Pep [Guardiola] has said we will see Kalvin Phillips whereas Howe has said he will use his squad.

Mikel Arteta was asked in his pre-match news conference if Arsenal were getting the credit they deserved for a solid start to the season.

After winning the Community Shield, the Gunners have put Manchester United to the sword and hammered PSV Eindhoven on their Champions League return.

"We want to win every single match, so yeah, we have won six matches, drawn two, won a title, and it’s not enough, you know," he said.

"We have six top, top, top players injured. It is what it is. We want to get better, that’s for sure."

Fulham boss Marco Silva says his players must back-up their win over Tottenham in the last round when they face Championship club Norwich.

The Cottagers knocked out their London rivals on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the second round.

"The players deserved all the credit with what they did against Spurs and they deserved to go through," said Silva. "I would like to see a similar outcome in the third round.

"I know Norwich are a team that is playing in a different competition, in the Championship, but we want to be successful."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says he has been impressed with Leicester's response since the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Leicester, under new boss Enzo Maresca, sit top of the Championship table after dropping down on the final day of last season.

"Their response has been incredible," writes Klopp in the match programme. "They are a Championship team right now of course and this is something they will want to change, but their form is more like a Premier League club so we should expect a proper test.

"As someone who has experienced relegation in my career [boss of Mainz], I know just how big a challenge it is to respond in a positive way but Leicester are doing this and it speaks volumes for the work they are doing as a club and a team."

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola accepts his squad must stand up to a hard schedule as they prepare to face Stoke in the Carabao Cup for the second of three games in seven days.

The Cherries have not had much time to regroup following 3-1 defeat at Brighton on Sunday, which saw their winless start in the Premier League this season extended to six games.

With the visit of Arsenal following on Saturday, Iraola feels he has little option but to push some of the players through.

Defender Lloyd Kelly, though, will not be involved after he sustained an injury against Brighton, which could keep him out until the next international break.

“I think we have to change some players due to the timeframe of playing Sunday to Saturday and six days between Premier League games and a cup game as well – it’s going to be hard,” Iraola said.

“Maybe one or two have to play three games this week, but we will see how they train today (on Tuesday) and how I feel the legs are of some players. The selection we will make will be a Premier League team because of the standard of our players.”

Kelly was forced off late on against Brighton, while Chris Mepham was missing from the matchday squad after also sustaining an injury.

Newcastle v Man City (20:00 BST)

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola doesn't seem delighted that they have to get a bus back tonight after the game.

"We cannot come back by plane because we don't have planes to travel back so we have to take a bus, it's two, three hours later, we arrive here so, so late," said Guardiola.

"Then Friday we have to travel to Wolves. We go to Germany to play Champions League, it's a really, really important game for us because we know what it means to be able to win there for qualification for the next stage. This is what we have to do."

Roberto de Zerbi says he will hug Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez before their reunion in Brighton’s Carabao Cup tie at Chelsea.

Midfielder Caicedo and goalkeeper Sanchez joined the Blues for a combined £140m last month, with defender Levi Colwill also returning to Stamford Bridge after a season-long loan deal with the Seagulls.

The trio could all feature when Chelsea host Brighton under the Stamford Bridge lights.

But, speaking before his side’s third-round visit to west London, De Zerbi said: “I am looking forward to seeing them and always happy to meet my former players.

“Now they don’t play with us, but I will hug them with pleasure.”

De Zerbi’s side will fancy their chances of progressing to the fourth round. Brighton are an impressive third in the Premier League table following five wins from their opening six fixtures, with Chelsea languishing in the bottom half.

West Ham enter the Carabao Cup at this third-round stage because they are a European team these days.

This is their first trip to Lincoln for a competitive game since November 1982 when they drew 1-1 in the League Cup.

Hammers youngster Conor Coventry, who had a loan spell at Lincoln, said: “I know a few of the boys there and they have some really talented players. I know the way they want to play is in a good style and it will be a tough game. They’ve had a good start to the season so it should be a good test.”

“They’ve been really good, they’ve won a lot of games and are getting used to winning games,” said Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson of tonight's opposition.

“They’re quite solid, we know they’re defending really well and want to play on transition, which is something we need to be aware of."

What a start Enzo Maresca has made to his managerial career at Leicester. The Foxes sit top of the Championship with seven wins out of eight.

Maresca's playing career included a spell in the second-tier at West Brom as a teenager before joining Juventus. He also played in Spain and Greece.

Will the Italian mastermind a shock at Anfield?

Maresca said the tie at Anfield is a "nice game" for Leicester because of "the opponent and environment", and that it "cannot compare" to any of the league fixtures as the Foxes battle to return to the Premier League.
