He's come on and gotten his first goal for his country, he'll be absolutely delighted. A bit of good fortune but he's in there and he's anticipated that something might happen. That's what you have to do as an attacker.

That's better build-up play from Ireland. More incisive, one, two touch, the movement is much better.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Gibraltar

Its half-time at the Aviva and after a lot of huffing and puffing, the Republic have so far failed to break down Gibraltar's defence.

Ferguson's glaring miss with a close range header and McGrath forcing a sprawling save from Coleing, are as close as Stephen Kenny's side have come to an opener.

They have had a lot of the ball, but must up the tempo in the second-half to carve open this stubborn Gibraltar side.

  17. Postpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

The Republic have become sloppy in the final third, which will suit Gibraltar, who are happy to defend deep and limit the hosts to shots from range, like they just have done with Cullen this time.
