Portugal are running riot here and it is nearly a third goal, but Kim Thanh, who saved a penalty against the United States in game one, makes a good save to deny Telma Encarnacao another goal.

Nazareth has been so involved in everything Portugal have done so far.

She had a few chances earlier on but this has been the first clear cut one she has had, and she's taken it so well with a calm finish.

She made no mistake with that one, a terrific moment for the young player.

    Francisca Nazareth

Francisca Nazareth is only 20 years old but has now scored her seventh goal for Portugal and her first in a World Cup.

She is played through by first goalscorer Telma Encarnacao, takes a touch to set herself and then fires it past Kim Thanh

Two-nil and so, so easy for Portugal. Vietnam being completely played off the park.

  4. 'Huge gaps in Vietnam defensive block'published at 08:48 British Summer Time 27 July 2023

    Portugal 1-0 Vietnam

    Lucy Ward
    Former Leeds striker on ITV1

It's just the lack of coordination for Vietnam.

Three or four players go forward to press but they are then leaving gaps in behind to exploit.

The distances between the defensive units for Vietnam are absolutely huge and that is giving Portugal acres of space to make runs in behind and play the ball around them.

I'm all for expanding the tournament to 32 teams, but making up numbers is never a good look. Portugal will win this game comfortably.

    Portugal 1-0 Vietnam

Almost a copy of the goal as a ball is played in from the right for Portugal with them shooting at goal from a central position.

This time Tatiana Pinto is on the end of it, but her strike hits the foot of the right post, although an assistant's flag is raised so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

Portugal are threatening to run away with this one. Francisca Nazareth fires over, Vietnam goalkeeper Kim Thanh makes a save and then Jessica Silva is again unable to convert with just the keeper to beat.

  8. 'Too easy for Portugal'published at 08:43 British Summer Time 27 July 2023

    Portugal 1-0 Vietnam

    Lucy Ward
    Former Leeds striker on ITV1

Vietnam are all over the place defensively, so it was too easy for Portugal to play a few passes to get in behind.

Terrific cross from the right-hand side and a terrific finish from Telma Encarnacao.

The ball bounced just in front of her so it wasn't such a straightforward finish, but she got it spot on.

Portugal score their first-ever goal in a Women's World Cup.

The Vietnam offside trap is breached and Lucia Alves gets free on the right, she sends in a low cross and Telma Encarnacao is free of her marker and able to convert from six yards out, shooting past Kim Thanh.

    Portugal 0-0 Vietnam

    Lucy Ward

So early on in the game, if you asked Portugal who they would want to get through on goal in that sort of situation it would be Jessica Silva.

But she rushed the shot in the end, went for the toe-poke and almost sliced the shot.

    Portugal 0-0 Vietnam

That should be the opener. Portugal slice through the Vietnam defence and it falls to Jessica Silva on her right foot with only the goalkeeper to beat. But there's a lack of composure from the Benfica striker as she shoots over.

Another chance comes soon after Silva's club team-mate Francisca Nazareth curls wide.

    Portugal 0-0 Vietnam

Vietnam make a bright start and win a free-kick down the left just outside the penalty area.

They already have done better than the match against the United States as they have a touch in the opponent's penalty area.

Bich Thuy takes the free-kick, but it's really poor, although she then wins a corner but it comes to nothing.

Goals, pace, creative energy is exactly what they will be looking for from Jessica Silva today.

Her athletic prowess, leading the press from the front, will help Portugal to get on the front foot.

They didn't get enough touches in the opposition box in their first game, and made few chances. They will be looking to change that today.

Portugal didn't really get going against Netherlands but we will see much more of them in attack here.

It's clear Vietnam are not going to get out of Group E but the experience of playing at this level is going to be massive for them.

They showed against the USA how well they can defend.

    Prediction 2-0.
