    Japan 3-1 Norway

    It's absolutely brilliant from Miyazawa.

The run is timed to perfection, on the back shoulder - and it's a sublime ball that cuts through the middle of the Norwegian back-line.

She was making no mistake from there.

  2. goal

GOAL - Japan 3-1 Norwaypublished at 81 mins

    Hinata Miyazawa

A fifth goal at this World Cup for Hinata Miyazawa and Japan have one foot in the quarter-finals.

Norway don't leave enough players back and Aoba Fujino plays a perfect pass in behind for Miyazawa who goes through on goal.

The forward takes a touch to steady herself before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Where was this Norway intensity hiding?

  4. CLOSE!published at 78 mins

    Japan 2-1 Norway

More Norway chances! Frida Maanum powers a shot from range straight at Japan keeper Ayaka Yamashita.

Either side and the Arsenal midfielder would have got the leveller.

  5. CLOSE!published at 77 mins

    Japan 2-1 Norway

    HUGE chance for Norway!

The ball bounces fortunately to substitute Karina Saevik on the angle inside the box.

But the forward drags her shot narrowly wide before burying her face into her hands.

  6. 'Hegerberg has time to make impact'published at 10:36 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Japan 2-1 Norway

    Siobhan Chamberlain
Ex-England and Man Utd goalkeeper on ITV1

I like the fact Hege Riise has made the change now.

Too often managers leave it to the last five or 10 minutes - Hegerberg has the time and opportunity to make an impact on this game.

Better from Norway who finally record a shot this half.

Sophie Haug rises highest to meet a looping cross but heads the ball just off target.

    Japan 2-1 Norway

The corner's headed clear. Can Hegerberg be the difference for Norway? The former Ballon d'Or winner wasn't fit enough to start.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 75 mins

    Japan 2-1 Norway

Here comes Ada Hegerberg, on for Tuva Hansen.

Caroline Graham Hansen, meanwhile, has just won Norway a rare corner.

Instant impact from Riko Ueki who glides past two defender with flair and speed.

Her dangerous cross is only just headed back to keeper Aurora Mikalsen by Norway defender Maren Mjelde.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 73 mins

    Japan 2-1 Norway

A first change for Japan. Mina Tanaka comes off to a standing ovation and is replaced by Riko Ueki.

    Japan 2-1 Norway

Just 18 minutes - plus stoppages - for Futoshi Ikeda's Japan side to see out to book a quarter-final spot.

So probably half an hour then given the length of injury time in most matches at this tournament.

Back to the action and Japan's Hinata Miyazawa threads the ball through looking for Aoba Fujino who has got clear of two defenders, but the forward can't quite bring the ball under control.

Pink and purple pastel shades makes it look like Japan are playing in their pyjamas. It’s obviously not adversely affecting them though.

  16. 'Japan kit a work of art'published at 10:25 British Summer Time 5 August 2023

    Japan 2-1 Norway

    Sanny Rudravajhala
    Reporting for 5 Live Sport

Risa Shimizu has been able to get forward a lot more in a Japan shirt than in West Ham colours this season but she’s a key player for club and county.

She played every game for the Hammers in the WSL and has stood in as captain for Japan. They deservedly lead and are in control.

Speaking of shirts by the way, this Japan kit is a work of art. Can the BBC text do a chef’s kiss emoji? If not can we call up the coding people to make one?

  18. Postpublished at 65 mins

It's still all Japan but they're getting a bit scrappy now, trying to force things. Hinata Miyazawa takes a wild swing from range but slices the ball high and wide.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 63 mins

    Japan 2-1 Norway

Norway do roll the dice and make two changes. Karina Saevik and Frida Maanum come on for Vilde Boe Risa and Emilie Haavi.
