  2. 'I don't want it to be too exciting!'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: St Mirren 2-1 Dundee

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "I don't want it to be too exciting - I want it to be calmer than that! We dug in and won the game. We've been 2-0 up in both games. We're learning lessons all the time, we have to be more composed.

"I thought Zach Hemming was outstanding, dominated his box. We actually expected him to save the penalty because he's hard to beat in training. But we have to be more composed, we became a little nervous and panicky. It's a young side.

"It's always eventful at the moment. The boys seemed convinced [the ball was over the line] but... never believe footballers.

"Defending has changed over the years, with the amount of cameras in grounds now. I thought Richard Taylor was outstanding again. For me, outwith Zach, he was our best player."

  3. 'Rangers just need to keep winning'published at 17:39 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Livingston

    Kenny Miller
    Former Rangers striker on Sportsound

There's a lot of flexibility in the Rangers frontline. Danilo looked sharper and he will get better. The players need to gel, get more cohesive. What's important is they keep winning while doing that, they can't afford to drop more points.

  4. Positives for 'work in progress' Rangers - Bealepublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Livingston

Rangers manager Michael Beale tells BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound: "The game was in three parts, maybe. The first part, really good - get 1-0 up, get 2-0 and then obviously the VAR goes against us. No problem with that, but I felt after that we were a bit slow and sticky.

"Livingston reduced the spaces for us. It did get a bit nervy in the stadium. The changes had a big impact and there were a lot of positives by the end of it. We were wasteful in the middle part of the game. We had good positions on the pitch and our last decision was really poor.

"Hugely important [for four differnt players to get their first Rangers goal]. For five of the boys to score their first goal this week, that will do them a wealth of good. Jack [Butland] getting his first clean sheet, Dujon [Sterling] making his debut.

"Jose Cifuentes was probably the pick of the players today, along with John Souttar.

"Overall, it's been a big eye opener for them as a week. As a team, we've shown a bit of everything. We've shown some good play, we've shown some poor play as well. We're a work in progress."

  5. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

FT: Ross County 2-0 St Johnstone

It's been a bleak start to the season for Saints, with five defeats from six in league and cup.

It doesn't get any easier on their next Premiership assignment, away to Celtic.

  6. 'We didn't do our jobs' - MacLeanpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

FT: Ross County 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Steven MacLean admits his side were nowhere near the required levels in Dingwall.

He tells BBC Scotland: "Unacceptable, poor, didn’t do our jobs properly, didn’t win enough first and second balls.

"It wasn’t as if it was a shape that caused us problems, it was just individually we didn’t do our jobs.

"Poor goals to concede as well but, to be honest, we probably got away with it, we probably should have been a couple goals down before we lost the first one."

  7. Smells like team spirit at St Mirrenpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: St Mirren 2-1 Dundee

    Leanne Crichton
Former Scotland international on BBC Sportsound

It's about the team at St Mirren, there's real consistency and continuity in a strong group.

They were without Mark O'Hara, who is so influential, and still got the job done today.

  8. 'County in total control'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

FT: Ross County 2-0 St Johnstone

    John Robertson
Ex-Hearts & Ross County manager on BBC Sportsound

It's not often you can feel comfortable on a 2-0 lead with 10 minutes to go but Malky Mackay must have felt that way since his side were in total control.

The Saints fans who travelled up saw their team well beaten and there will be concerns.

  9. St Mirren sitting prettypublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: St Mirren 2-1 Dundee

Drink it in St Mirren fans. Your team is top of the table.

Six points from two games and five goals scored.

Not a bad start at all.

  10. 'Danilo shines in central role'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    FT: Rangers 4-0 Livingston

    Rory Loy
Former Falkirk & Dundee forward on BBC Scotland

Danilo was much more comfortable once he was moved through the middle. His touch, his movement, his link-up play. I think that's his position.

  14. FULL-TIME St Mirren 2-1 Dundeepublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

St Mirren make it two wins from two to go top of the Scottish Premiership.

An early own-goal from former Buddies captain Joe Shaughnessy gave the hosts the lead, before Zach Robinson missed a penalty that would have drawn the visitors level.

Mikael Mandron, the man who conceded the penalty, made amends when he glanced in from a corner on the stroke of half-time.

The introduction of Scott Tiffoney almost turned the game around, but he could only set up one solitary goal - crossing for Josh Mulligan to bundle in.

  15. FULL-TIME Rangers 4-0 Livingstonpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Very comfortable in the end for Rangers, who get off the mark in emphatic style.

Summer signings Sam Lammers, Danilo, Abdallah Sima and Keiran Dowell all got their first goals.

Livingston offered stubborn resistance but the roof fell in when Danilo made it 2-0 on 78 minutes.

  18. FULL-TIME Ross County 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

It was never really in doubt.

Ross County dominated throughout with goals from Kyle Turner and Connor Randall coming either side of the interval.

Imposing from Malky Mackay's side, a thoroughly deserved first three points of the season.

Two defeats from two for St Johnstone.

    Kieran Dowell

It's goal four and the pick of the bunch for Rangers.

Rabbi Matondo runs almost the length of the pitch to tee up fellow substitute Kieran Dowell and the midfielder sweeps a stunning shot into the right-hand corner of the net.

  20. 'Points secured with sheen on scoreline'published at 16:51 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Rangers 3-0 Livingston

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

It took some time but Rangers eventually have this job done.

Deservedly so, but they'll seek a higher level for the entire 90 minutes going forward, rather than just periods of the game.

New signings getting off the mark will help. That relives a burden of expectation and aids the settling in process.

It's all about Tuesday night in Switzerland now. A vital night awaits.
