St Johnstone captain Liam Gordon clatters into Yan Dhanda and wipes him out deep into the visitors' half.

He's already on a booking and there's a brief pause in proceedings as referee Willie Collum appears to receive some communication from the VAR.

It was a clumsy challenge but Gordon avoids another card.

A sensational free kick is lifted into the box by Ross County's Yan Dhanda.

New boy Ryan Leak bullets a header at goal but it's matched by Dimitar Mitov's save.

Moments later, Dhanda again showcases his impressive crossing abilities as his dinked delivery finds Josh Sims.

Again, the headed effort fails open the scoring.

Malky Mackay will be hoping County don't rue these missed chances circa 16:45 this evening.

What a let-off that was for David Martindale and his team. You feared for them after Jose Cifuentes blasted home but the decision was the right one.

What that action did offer was an insight into why Michael Beale is excited by his latest new signing. He showed no hesitation in dispatching that shot having come close seconds earlier.

Cifuentes is certainly showing promise.

An inquest in the Livingston defence as Luiyi de Lucas knocks a harmless James Tavernier back into danger and eventually John Souttar blazes over for Rangers.
