    Ross County 2-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone youngster Taylor Steven has entered the game as a substitute for Cammy Ballantyne.

His first involvement is to skip past two defenders before his shot narrowly creeps over the bar.

Next, he combines with Stevie May and watches his shot squirm past the far post.

He looks like the the attacking spark Saints were sorely lacking. Max Kucheriavyi is also on for Matthew Smith.

  2. Can Tiffoney turn the game for Dundee?published at 16:20 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    St Mirren 2-0 Dundee

Tony Docherty makes his first change - replacing last week's goalscorer Lyall Cameron with Scott Tiffoney. Any Scottish Championship fan will tell you, that's not a bad man to come off the bench.

The Dee certainly need something to ignite their blunt attack.

  3. CLOSE!published at 16:19 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Rangers 1-0 Livingston

Chances starting to become more frequent now at Ibrox.

Cyriel Dessers has an effort deflected over after Danilo heads down a Jose Cifuentes cross.

Moments earlier, Danilo and Dessers got into a muddle after breaking clear from halfway.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:18 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Rangers 1-0 Livingston

Work for Jack Butland to do to keep out a deflected Andrew Shinnie shot. Livingston keep the pressure on following a corner and another Shinnie effort is tipped wide.

  6. CLOSE!published at 16:14 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    St Mirren 2-0 Dundee

St Mirren have made the better start - again. Keanu Baccus and Conor McMenamin link up well, with the latter sending a deep swinging cross the back post. Scott Tanser is there, but his header goes inches over the bar.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:13 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Rangers 1-0 Livingston

Danilo finally arrives in this game by drawing a save from Shamal George. The Brazilian drives on the left-hand side, cuts in and shoots only to be denied by a good stop.

Sam Lammers then knocks wide in the aftermath.

Rangers are starting to make a meal of all these chances.

Todd Cantwell is down getting treatment on a knee knock but he's back up pretty quickly.

Stephen Robinson has put together a squad full of quality and they are a threat every time they get forward.

    Rangers 1-0 Livingston

Sam Lammers heads narrowly wide right at the start of the second period for Rangers.

  10. goal

GOAL Ross County 2-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Connor Randall

Picking up where the left off after the opening 45.

Smart, fast-paced, purposeful passing gets the hosts to the edge of the St Johnstone box in a flash.

Simon Murray has his back to goal in the area and touches it back to George Harmon.

A touch out of his feet and it's quickly shifted across to Randall who strikes it with venom and its dips into the far corner.

    A stunning strike.

  12. St Mirren or Kilmarnock for top six?published at 16:06 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

The Sportsound pundits were having a blether earlier about which team joins the 'big five' in the top six.

St Mirren did it last season for the first time and they're heading for six points out of six.

The early consensus seems to be it will be between the Paisley side and Kilmarnock.

    What do you think?

Thumbs up for St Mirren, down for Kilmarnock.

There's no third or fourth option for the rest, I'm afraid, but you can mess about with predictions here.

  14. 'Strong Rangers start peters out'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    HT: Rangers 1-0 Livingston

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

Rangers looked utterly dominant in the opening exchanges. In total control and good for their lead.

Since Jose Cifuentes' strike was ruled out for handball via VAR, it's all gone a little flat. They aren't creating chances with the same regularity, albeit they remain in complete command of possession.

Livingston really lack bite though. It's hard to see where a goal might come from for them.

  15. HALF-TIME St Mirren 2-0 Dundeepublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Stephen Robinson would have had every right to be both furious and relieved with a 1-0 lead at half-time. Just as well Mikael Mandron scored in the dying seconds of the opening 45 minutes.

The hosts took the lead in Paisley nice and early when Joe Shaughnessy headed past Trevor Carson - the two former Buddies combining to give their previous employer the lead.

But St Mirren - who had totally dominated - gave Dundee the perfect chance to equalise when Mandron hauled Lee Ashcroft down from a nothing throw-in. Zach Robinson - who scored 13 goals last season - put his penalty straight down the middle, into the legs of Zach Hemming.

Seconds before the break, Mandron darted to the front post to glance in a well-deserved second, and give the home side a well-deserved cushion.

  19. HALF-TIME Rangers 1-0 Livingstonpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Sam Lammers' goal is difference between the sides but, like Wednesday night against Servette, Rangers will feel they should have more.

Jose Cifuentes had a goal disallowed by VAR for handball and Shamal George has been peppered by other efforts.

Livingston are not in the game much as an attacking force - but they are only a goal down.

  20. goal

GOAL St Mirren 2-0 Dundeepublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    Mikael Mandron

And they do have a second before half-time! Caolan Boyd-Munce curls in a corner from the right, Mandron darts to the front post and glances across goal with the ball flying into the net.

A goal that St Mirren deserve for their first half dominance.
