It's a brilliant ball and well-timed, Palmer was definitely onside.

It's Rodri with the clipped ball.

Palmer is trying to guide it to the far post and he's definitely going for goal. It's a great finish from the youngster.

Re 21:10 - We could be playing Accrington reserves in pre season and Pep would want to win. We're losing cause Sevilla are a good team and we're not invincible.

Brilliant defending from Sevilla. City have the ball but just can't get in between two banks of reds.

Then the Spanish side counter at pace and only for Ederson being quick off his line, Youssef En-Nesyri would be in.

Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos is picked out in loads of space on the left. He cuts in and swings a cross in which flies just wide of the far post.

A big argument over whose throw-in it should be. Hardly seems worth it.

(Re 25:58) I base it on the change in personnel, not on this first 45 mins. Gundogan gone. De Bruyne out for 4 months who fed Haaland for fun. Mahrez gone.

Sevilla win a free-kick 30 yards out as Rodri fouls Lucas Ocampos. Joan Jordan has a go from the free-kick but his effort is parried and then held by Ederson.

Paul: Not a City fan but wow some people are being dramatic. They’ll still be too good for most teams. They’ve just set such high standards in recent times that performances like tonight seem poor but they usually come good when it matters. They’ll miss De Bruyne though.

Lucas Ocampos and Youssef En-Nesyri is a brilliant counter-attacking combo in this game. The former sends the latter through with a low ball but Nathan Ake drives En-Nesyri wide and he shoots into the side-netting.

  13. 'Massive chance'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 16 August 2023

    Man City 0-1 Sevilla

    It's a massive chance.

Walker was all in to try and stop Ocampos and when he got away from him, En-Nesyri had so much space to run in to.

The ball was a good one but it wasn't a clinical finish.

  15. Postpublished at 51 mins

It should be 2-0. Sevilla absolutely slice City open with a top-class counter-attack. The ball lands to Youssef En-Nesyri, who is in space 14 yards out but he shoots straight at Ederson.

I think Man City are not winning because Pep is only targeting the “treble” trophies to avoid the burn out. They are treating tonight as a friendly.

The team talk from Pep would have been about moving the ball quicker.

They need to give Haaland some chances, he's been starved of the ball.

Sevilla are staying compact and narrow so City need to keep that ball moving and try to shift players around.

There's a stop in play for a VAR check for a potential Sevilla penalty for a Josko Gvardiol handball but it's not given. Correct decision.
