Odinaka Odynaks: With City selling some of their top talent this summer without a proper replacement, I see them struggling in the long run.

The heat does have to be taken into account when you haven't got the ball, but the way Sevilla have been narrow and compact means they haven't had a lot of ground to cover so it won't have been too taxing on their legs.

    City need to patient.

Surely Al in Heywood (Re 20:45) is on a wind up? You making the bold statement that they won't be as dominant based on 45 minutes in a final against a very good Seville side? Even as a Chelsea fan, I have to concede that City are a million miles clear of everyone else.

Al in Haywood. You do know City are notorious slow starters. We were written off over and over last season. Keep it coming.

  10. 'City a bit pedestrian'published at 20:57 British Summer Time 16 August 2023

    HT: Man City 0-1 Sevilla

    Neil Lennon
Former Celtic manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sevilla have got something to hold on to.

City have been dominant in possession but a little bit pedestrian.

But the longer the game goes on in this heat, the gaps are likely to start opening up for City.

I can see this being a long second half for Sevilla.

  11. 'Comfortable for Sevilla'published at 20:55 British Summer Time 16 August 2023

    HT: Man City 0-1 Sevilla

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a well worked goal, a brilliant ball from Acuna and a great header from En-Nesyri.

Sevilla have been quite comfortable. Yes, they've been without the ball but they've been compact, narrow and hard to play against.

On the counter, with Lamela's quality, the height, strength and pace of En-Nesyri has caused problems.

Mendilibar will be a happy man going in at half time.

Youssef En-Nesyri has scored 18 goals in 2023, the most by any La Liga player in all competitions this year. Robert Lewandowski is next on 15.

    Man City 0-1 Sevilla

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Scotland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Manchester City are working it in midfield, Sevilla seem to be setting traps for them.

They are happy for them to have it in those spaces because when they nick it they've got two or three players to break with.

A very different side to the one that won the treble. City certainly won't be as dominant this season.
