  1. RED CARD - Connor Roberts (Burnley)published at 16:40 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 2-0 Burnley

Two-nil down and now down to ten.

Burnley's Connor Roberts, who was shown a yellow card in the first half for kicking a second ball on to the pitch, is sent off for a second bookable offence after dragging back Yoane Wissa who looked to go through on goal.

  2. 'Game on now!'published at 16:39 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-1 Brighton

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

We've got a game on now!

Steele and Dunk did well to deny Doku and Alvarez up one end and then it is a devastating counter attack from Brighton.

A clever finish from Fati, passes the ball past Ortega at his near post. Game on!

  3. Postpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Bournemouth 1-1 Wolves

A change each. Dango Ouattara replaces Marcus Tavernier for the hosts and Wolves bring on Pablo Sarabia for Toti Gomes.

  4. CLOSE!published at 16:38 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 2-0 Burnley

    How did he miss?!

It just hasn't been Burnley's day as the visitors miss out on a four-on-one break upfield.

The ball is squared to Luca Koleosho who has an open goal, but somehow mishits the ball well wide.

One of the misses of the year.

  5. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Bournemouth 1-1 Wolves

    Huge chance for the visitors.

Matheus Cunha's effort is only parried out by Cherries captain Neto but Hwang Hee-chan gets his angles all wrong as he follows up and blasts over from six yards.

The South Korea international was completely off balance there and the home supporters enjoyed that miss.

    Ansu Fati

    Oh hello!

Manchester City have gone from cruising to three points to hanging on after substitute Ansu Fati pounces from close range following a poor clearance by Manuel Akanji.

Will the Seagulls produce another great comeback?

A lot is made of our Saudi links, but almost nothing of our local, English squad. 8 starters, over half the bench and 2 boyhood fans on the score sheet.

    Ben, Rothbury

You have to say Man U’s chances of achieving a European spot this season are looking worryingly slim. They appear to have weakened over the summer rather than strengthened with shaky signings in Mount and Onana, whilst City/Liverpool/Newcastle/Spurs/Arsenal all look (significantly) improved on last season. And that’s before we even talk about Brighton and Villa, who continue to impress.

    Cath

Julius at 1618, from a Luton fan of course we are out of our depth but we have shown anything is possible! You don't need to spend £££ to get to Premier League. Luton fans are proud.

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 16:35 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Nottm Forest 1-0 Luton

Luton fans scream for a penalty as Carlton Morris goes down inside the box under a challenge, but a quick VAR check deems no foul.

  10. 'Another big chance for Brighton'published at 16:35 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Another big chance there for Brighton in this second half.

It all comes from an unbelievable pass from Dunk, from the edge of his own box, a 50 yard crossfield ball.

Ansu Fati receives it then feeds in Mitoma who is denied by Ortega. Only thing I was thinking there is could the forward have lifted the finish?

  11. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

    That's huge!

A lovely ball by Ansu Fati finds Kaoru Mitoma in space but Stefan Ortega is quickly off his line to make the save.

    Brighton have come alive.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 2-0 Burnley

Brentford's Mathias Jensen is the latest to go in the book for a late challenge in midfield. This match has slowed right down ever since Bryan Mbeumo's excellent finish.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Newcastle 4-0 Crystal Palace

Huge support for Sandro Tonali from the Newcastle fans as he comes on as part of a number of changes for the hosts.

Tonali is being investigated by the Italian Prosecutor's Office and the Italian football federation in relation to alleged illegal betting activity, and Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said yesterday they are giving Tonali all their support.

  14. Postpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Bournemouth 1-1 Wolves

A rare sight of goal for a Bournemouth player as Ryan Christie unloads from 20 yards.

His effort goes low towards the bottom left corner but is easily saved by Wolves keeper Jose Sa.

The hosts have largely been penned back in their own half since Lewis Cook's red card but they showed a little more adventure there.

  15. 'More involvement for Gross giving Brighton joy'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The one area where Brighton are getting a little bit more joy in this second half is getting the ball from Steele into Gross.

The holding midfielders weren't really in the game in the first half, they've been more prominent in this second period, and the side are getting out of the Man City press.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:32 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

City turn up the tempo another notch and it requires a flying stop by Jason Steele to deny Erling Haaland a second.

  17. 'Mbeumo is the most underrated striker'published at 16:31 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 2-0 Burnley

    Martin Keown
Former England defender on Final Score

He [Bryan Mbeumo] is probably the most underrated striker in the Premier League. When this fella is in front of goal, he can just get it done.

Burnley are missing a leader at the moment.

Right-back Malo Gusto and attacking midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk replace them, while Cole Palmer is fit enough to start and Reece James returns to the bench.

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Gusto, Thiago Silva, Colwill, Cucurella, Caicedo, Gallagher, Fernandez, Mudryk, Palmer, Sterling.

    Chelsea XI to face Arsenal

Big news for Arsenal - Bukayo Saka is back.

The England forward returns to the Gunners' starting XI after missing the win over Manchester City with a leg injury, which also ruled him out of the recent international fixtures.

Gabriel Martinelli also starts after his match-winning return from the bench against City, with the pair lining up alongside Gabriel Jesus in a front three.

Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard are the players to make way.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who recently lost his place to David Raya, is not on the bench after his wife gave birth to a baby boy.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

The tackles are flying. Now Igor Julio goes into the book for a foul on Rodri. Brighton are beginning to run out of time. They've managed just one attempt on target and send on Billy Gilmour and Ansu Fati.

  20. goal

GOAL - Newcastle 4-0 Crystal Palacepublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Callum Wilson (66 mins)

    Superb counter!

Second after Crystal Palace have their first shot on target the hosts add a fourth.

Nick Pope rolls the ball out to Kieran Trippier, who sends the excellent Jacob Murphy away down the right. Murphy plays a brilliant pass behind the defence and Callum Wilson keeps his cool to slot home.
