  1. 'Long afternoon ahead for Milner and March'published at 15:41 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's another mismatch on the other side between Foden and March.

De Zerbi seems content to just leave both him and Milner isolated. It could be a long afternoon for both Brighton full-backs.

Re: Ryan @ 15:27 Couldn't agree more. Brighton have become my 2nd team because of their style of play & amazing conveyor belt of recruitment. Unfortunately for them, this rapid rise has created slightly unrealistic expectations & everyone now expects them to win every game & go toe to toe with a team such as Man City. Last season may or may not be an anomaly but I think the pressure of success may be weighing on a very young group of players, with their top, experienced players having been sold.

    Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves

    Mark Mitchener
    BBC Sport at Vitality Stadium

Referee Paul Tierney allowed a lengthy stoppage for Matheus Cunha to have treatment - even though Wolves' Brazilian forward was already off the pitch, having been brought down in a heap by Illia Zabarnyi.

Visiting boss Gary O'Neil took the opportunity for a long chat with his players - particularly central midfield pair Boubacar Traore and Joao Gomes. Cunha is now back in action.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

It's far too comfortable for City. Phil Foden has been fouled a couple of times and Solly March goes into the book for holding the England man back. One-way traffic.

    Newcastle 1-0 Crystal Palace

Newcastle fans will be hoping their side doesn't rue the missed chances. They should be two or three goals up but Crystal Palace are still in this and things have evened up a bit now.

Mike: The only difference between Brighton and Southampton is the colour of the stripes. They are on the same path following the same model which isn't sustainable

Dyche plays Young on Diaz: stupid coach. De Zerbi plays Milner on Doku (struggling as much if not more than Young): genius!!!!

    Silvio

If Doku had a better end product city could be 5/6 up already

    Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves

Bournemouth are all over the place at the back but Wolves and Pedro Neto can't punish them.

The Portugal international tries to find the far left corner with a curler but gets way too much loft on that and sees his effort fly over the crossbar to the relief of the home supporters.

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

James Milner is fondly remembered by City fans for helping the club win two Premier League titles and an FA Cup.

But the 37-year-old is getting stick from the locals as he finds the going tough against Jeremy Doku who continues to run rings around Milner.

    Nottm Forest 0-0 Luton

Tahith Chong is away down the left, speeding away from the Nottingham Forest full-back, before driving a dangerous ball into the box but none of his Luton team-mates are onto it.

  10. 'Burnley are living very dangerously'published at 15:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 1-0 Burnley

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

Burnley have been playing football that is too naive. They are living very dangerously at the moment, and it's not productive.

  11. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 1-0 Burnley

Brentford want a penalty as a corner strikes the hand of Ameen Al Dakhil in the area. It would be a very harsh call and VAR rightly doesn't overturn things.

Moments later and Bryan Mbeumo drives forward, only for his powerful shot to be tipped behind by Burnley stopper James Trafford.

  12. Postpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves

Pedro Neto drives at the Bournemouth defence again.

He's clearly the danger man as far as the visitors are concerned but Philip Billing gets back to make a crucial sliding tackle, whipping the ball to safety as the Wolves forward is about to shoot from 10 yards out.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Newcastle 1-0 Crystal Palace

    How is it not 2-0!?

A cross from the right is pushed away by Sam Johnstone but Anthony Gordon is there and looks certain to volley in, but somehow turns his shot onto the woodwork.

Newcastle really should be out of sight.

Haaland is a phenomenal goal scorer but I can't help but feel the likes of Kane, Salah or Son would score as many in this City team. He only scored a few more than Kane in the league last season. If Kane had been at City and not Spurs I reckon he would've easily hit 40 in the league. That said....what a player. I hope he stays in Premier League and doesn't go and play in a weaker league like Spain

  16. 'Doku-Milner a total mismatch'published at 15:31 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

A total mismatch isn't it, Doku versus Milner? Close again Doku, we knew what he was trying to do there.

If Milner had a towel, well he wouldn't throw it in, but we know there is only one side winning in that contest.

  17. CLOSE!published at 15:30 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Brentford 1-0 Burnley

Should be 2-0! Burnley are incredibly sloppy, giving the ball away at the back and Neal Maupay is sent through one-on-one.

The forward's shot squeezes under the body of James Trafford and trickles towards the goal, but the ball is hacked off the line by Burnley defender Dara O'Shea sprinting back.

  18. CLOSE!published at 15:29 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Man City 2-0 Brighton

This is sumptuous stuff from Manchester City.

They're turning on the style and Jeremy Doku, who already has an assist, goes close to making it 3-0 with a curling attempt that falls agonisingly wide.

I feel for Brighton. They’ve come on leaps and bounds in recent seasons to the point where I actively look to see how they are doing. I just pray they can end this poor run of form soon, although I don’t see that happening today!

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:27 British Summer Time 21 October 2023

    Newcastle 1-0 Crystal Palace

Quick thinking from a free-kick by Newcastle as Jacob Murphy is teed up for the shot. He thumps a strong effort at goal but Sam Johnstone is equal to it.
