  1. Postpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    QPR 0-1 Swansea

Swansea are edging towards their first league win of the season.

This would be a big result for Michael Duff and add a little more pressure on his opposite number Gareth Ainsworth.

QPR have had only two shots on target.

  2. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:33 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Preston 2-1 Birmingham

Preston close to a third, as Duane Holmes picks the ball up from distance and crashes a shot at goal which almost sneaks under the crossbar at pace, but is tipped over by John Ruddy.

    Belter of a hit.

  3. League One updatepublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

We were saying don't count Barnsley out and they now have a second to make it 3-2 against Portsmouth as we enter the closing stages.

It's Hungary international Callum Styles with a bullet header - can they find a leveller?!

  4. goal

GOAL: Bristol City 4-1 Plymouthpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Harry Cornick (80 mins)

It's been a quieter affair in the second period but the result is no longer in doubt as Kal Naismith sends Harry Cornick through on goal and he duly finishes past Conor Hazard.

The three points are staying in Bristol tonight.

  5. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 3-1 Coventrypublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Kion Etete (84 mins)

Cardiff's third goal came via a cracking finish from Kion EteteImage source, PA Media

Lovely way to win it for Cardiff, as Kion Etete keeps his cool to fire past Ben Wilson.

Perry Ng kept the ball in play on the right, before lofting the perfect ball over the top for Etete to chase.

He allowed it to bounce, Wilson didn't close down the angle sufficiently, and from the angle on the right he fired low into the far corner.

Well-taken, and that's Cardiff roaring to another impressive win after last week's derby delight.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:27 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Southampton 0-1 Ipswich

Che Adams is booked for a late challenge on Cameron Burgess as Southampton's frustration grows.

They have about ten minutes plus whatever the referee adds to find a leveller.

  7. Postpublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Cardiff 2-1 Coventry

Coventry look dejected as they trail CardiffImage source, PA Media

Coventry fighting to level and time is running out.

Yasin Ayari has come on and had a couple of chances.

First he lashed wide from distance, then headed wide from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto's delivery.

  8. Postpublished at 21:23 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Middlesbrough

Josh Coburn smashes the ball from inside the box, having brushed aside Bambo Diaby with ease, but it zips wide of the Wednesday right post.

The Middlesbrough forward showed good strength but not enough composure.

  9. DISALLOWED GOAL FOR BOROpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Middlesbrough

Matt Crooks stoops almost on his knees to head past Devis Vasquez in the Wednesday goal from inside the six-yard box, but he's ruled offside.

It was a knock-down by Darragh Lenihan which found him in space, but the referee's assistant had his flag up before celebrations could begin in earnest.

    Darragh Lenihan (53 mins)

Middlesbrough are level and it comes from a set-piece.

The delivery into the box was not dealt with by the Wednesday defence, and Darragh Lenihan was on hand to prod it into the net with a swarm of blue and white, and red shirts in attendance.

It was a proper melee. But Boro get the leveller.

  11. goal

    Milutin Osmajic (67 mins)

What a wonderful goal for Preston to give them the lead.

It was a driving run by Alan Browne after the ball was won in midfield, and he released Milutin Osmajic on the right of the box, and a low hammered finish through the legs of John Ruddy sends Deepdale soaring.

Superb finish. And, he's booked for whipping his top off.

  12. League One updatepublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

Jonson Clarke-Harris has doubled Peterborough's lead over Cheltenham.

The Robins will equal the record for most games at the start of the season without a goal (eight) if they fail to score in the closing stages. A very unwanted record.

A great goal from Kwadwo Baah has put Burton on course for a first league win. They lead Port Vale 3-1.

  13. YELLOW CARD FOR MIDDLESBROUGHpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Middlesbrough

These two sides are back underway at Hillsborough.

Middlesbrough have made a change, with Lukas Engel replaced by Isaiah Jones as Michael Carrick looks for pace.

Jones' main involvement so far though is a booking for clipping the heels of Anthony Musaba.

    Southampton 0-1 Ipswich

Conor Chaplin sees a volley saved by Gavin Bazunu as Ipswich go in search of a second against Southampton.

We're past the hour mark so time is running out for Saints.

They've made a few subs including Ghana speedster Kamaldeen Sulemana who had his red card against Leicester rescinded.

  15. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 2-1 Coventrypublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Karlan Grant (61 mins)

Excellent goal from Cardiff, who regain the lead at home to the Sky Blues.

Ryan Wintle swept in a deep cross from the right, and Karlan Grant squeezed in between two defenders and stooped to meet the ball with a header that seared beyond Ben Wilson and into the left corner.

    Really lovely move and finish.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:06 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Preston 1-1 Birmingham

Superb save from Freddie Woodman. It's a proper sinew-stretcher as Woodman gets down to paw away a sidefoot from the edge of the box from Birmingham's Ivan Sunjic.

It all came from the wizardry of Koji Miyoshi, who drifted away from his marker like a spirit figure and created the position for Sunjic to shoot.

  17. League One updatepublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

Barnsley are back in it - Barry Cotter has struck early in the second period to make it 3-1 against Portsmouth.

Ten-man Cheltenham have fallen behind at Peterborough, with Harrison Burrows the man opening the scoring.

Steve Seddon has put Burton back in front away at Port Vale - can they hold on for a first league win?

    Krystian Bielik own-goal (51 mins)

Oh my. What a calamity for Birmingham.

It's a decent corner in for the hosts, Krystian Bielik attacks it and buries it past his own goalkeeper John Ruddy.

I don't really get his body position, it wasn't like he was tussling for the ball with anyone. Panicked and scored. There was no way he could clear the ball from that position.

    Preston get a freebie.

  19. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-1 Birminghampublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 19 September 2023

    Jay Stansfield (46 mins)

Birmingham celebrate against PrestonImage source, Rex Features

Brilliant opener just 40 seconds into the second half and the leaders are behind.

Birmingham worked the ball into Koji Miyoshi, who nutmegged Jack Whatmough to release Jay Stansfield.

He powers into the box, shrugs off his marker - leaving him on the deck - and then arrows the ball comprehensively past Freddie Woodman.

Superb finish and reward for Birmingham's industry.
