    Jed Wallace (17 mins)

What a turnaround... two goals in three minutes have put West Brom ahead.

What a finish from Jed Wallace who gets down low to glance a cross from the right into the far corner past Daniel Bachmann.

Albion are in dreamland, Watford are in disarray.

    Hull 0-0 Leeds

Two sides still feeling each other out in East Yorkshire.

Just seen a few tricks from Hull winger Jaden Philogene, which gets the fans going, but he's kept well away from danger by the Leeds defence.

  3. goal

GOAL: Watford 1-1 West Brompublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    John Swift (14 mins)

The Baggies can unlock that defence... that's four goals in his past six for John Swift.

Watford are caught in possession on the edge of their own area and concede a free-kick. Swift takes aim from 20-yards and manages to curl around the wall and into the side-netting, completely wrong-footing Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann.

  4. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 20:00 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Huddersfield 0-0 Stoke

Stoke come close to an opener, but Tyrese Campbell was offside as he chased after a slide-rule pass from Ben Wilmot, after he stormed forward.

Fine finish beyond Lee Nicholls but the flag shot up.

Huddersfield survive. It was Tyrese Campbell by the way.

  5. Postpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Watford 1-0 West Brom

Hornets are in command at Vicarage Road, though they have yet to fashion any clear chances to extend their early advantage.

They have conceded only once in four games so far. West Brom will need to find a way to unlock this defence.

  6. Postpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Blackburn 0-0 Sunderland

Ryan Hedges is the threat at the moment for Blackburn, powering down the right and swinging in a cross which Harry Leonard can only put over the bar with an effort across the keeper.

Sammie Szmodics then cuts in off the left and forces a save from Anthony Patterson, and Andrew Moran can't bury the rebound.

    All Rovers.

  7. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Watford 0-0 Rotherham

Millwall pressing early on and Zian Flemming's fizzing low cross across the six yard box needs hooking away from danger by Millers defender Cameron Humphreys.

Moments later and Ryan Longman's curling corner is inches away from the head of Murray Wallace.

    Lions on top.

  8. Postpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Blackburn 0-0 Sunderland

Early chance for Rovers, as Ryan Hedges plays in Andrew Moran, but as he drags his shot wide of the Sunderland goal.

    Flag was up anyway.

Moran has the pressure of leading the line with Sam Gallagher ruled out for two months.

Sunderland not always the quickest starters anyway.

  9. Postpublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Hull 0-0 Leeds

Enthusiastic applause for former Hull assistant Colin Murphy, following his passing, at 79.

Leeds get it going. Lights shining down on a pitch which has the rugby league markings on it.

Seasons to forget for Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos, those who support both respective teams in terms of their football clubs will hope it's a happier hunting ground tonight.

  10. goal

GOAL: Watford 1-0 West Brompublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Tom Ince (3 mins)

Tom Ince scores for Watford v West BromImage source, Rex Features

What a start for the Hornets.

The ball is worked from left to right across the face of the area and Tom Ince has enough space to pick his spot and curl left-footed into the far corner beyond Alex Palmer's despairing dive for his first Watford goal.

A nightmare start for the Baggies.

  11. Postpublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Watford 0-0 West Brom

It's no dryer 20 miles north and west at Vicarage Road where West Brom are seeking to end their dismal run, both against Watford but also in midweek games.

  12. Postpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Millwall 0-0 Rotherham

It is absolutely teeming down in South East London.

A sympathetic background even Shakespeare would be proud of for this battle of two teams desperate to find their feet this season.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

Off we go in the Championship, well, at in five of the games anyway.

Norwich and Leicester will wait another 15 minutes to kick-off, as they're the telly event tonight.

  14. Lions and Millers both seeking to escape the gloompublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Millwall v Rotherham (19:45 BST)

The Den under heavy skiesImage source, Getty Images

Out-of-sorts Millwallwill be seeking a return to the familiarity of the top-half of the table when they host Rotherham.

Sunday’s 3-0 thumping at home to Leeds was a third defeat in four home games – their only home goal securing a 1-0 success against Stoke in August.

The Lions are however unbeaten in five games against the Millers, who have lost all four away games in all competitions this season and possess a poor record in London, winning on just one of their last seven trips to the capital, and that coming at AFC Wimbledon in February 2022.

The Millers haven’t actually scored at the Den in more than nine years while Lions boss Gary Rowett is unbeaten in his last eight games against United, losing only one of his last dozen against them.

Is this the game to kick-start Millwall’s season or can Matt Taylor’s men heap on more woe?

  15. Warnock's last standpublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Huddersfield v Stoke (19:45 BST)

Neil Warnock smiles as he banters with fansImage source, Getty Images

Huddersfield fans get their chance to say a proper goodbye to Neil Warnock tonight, whose time as manager ends after tonight's game against Stoke.

It's a strange scenario, even for a manager who seen and done it all in his 42-year coaching career, to be told he's out but to get another game in charge before he does.

Two wins from six is hardly the worst form, but it's not enough for owner Kevin Nagle and chief executive Jake Edwards, who says a "longer-term" appointment is now due.

Stoke can really poop the party, although they'll need to snap a three game league losing run to do so. Alex Neil's side have made plenty of recruitment moves but it's yet to truly click for them this season.

  16. Baggies aiming to buck the trendpublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

Watford v West Brom (19:45 BST)

The omens are not good for West Brom fans making the trip to Watford tonight.

Tony Blair resigned as Prime Minister only five months before the Baggies last won at Vicarage Road in November 2007.

Carlos Corberan's side are winless in their past five visits and have lost the past three in a row. The Hornets hoodoo has even extended to the Hawthorns with Watford now unbeaten in five games home and away against Albion.

Another frustration for the visitors is their poor record on the road in midweek games – since they were relegated from the top flight they have only won twice in 11 midweek fixtures under the lights, losing six of those games.

There is plenty at stake with the two sides locked in 13th and 14th with identical records thus far, Watford are ahead by virtue of goal difference.

Valerian Ismael's Hornets have conceded just one goal in four games at home, taking seven points, while the Baggies are winless in four games on the road in all competitions.

Surely there's only one winner? Ah... but this is the Championship, of course.

  17. Mowbray's Rovers returnpublished at 19:37 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Blackburn v Sunderland (19:45 BST)

Tony Mowbray looks on before a Sunderland gameImage source, Getty Images

There should always be a warm greeting for Tony Mowbray when he returns to Blackburn, given what he achieved in his time there.

While he couldn't initially keep Rovers in the Championship, he won promotion from League One in his first full season and subsequently established the club there, blooding young players and eventually turning signing Ben Brereton Diaz into a multi-million pound international.

The fruits of his labour can still be seen in the work carried on and built upon by Jon Dahl Tomasson, who is working within the same constraints.

Like their opponents, Rovers have three wins so far this season, but still crave someone to come forward and supply the goals lost by the aforementioned BBD's move to Spanish side Villareal.

Sunderland have a similar issue in terms of strikers following Ross Stewart's deadline move to Southampton, but they are gleaning goals from all over the team - and Jobe Bellingham and Jack Clarke in particular epitomise the stylish nature of Mowbray's blueprint of football.

But as the pitches get muddier (ish, though we are talking second-tier football to be fair where they're still pretty carpet-like) and the winds whip in, it'll be interesting to see how they go without a bit of blood and thunder up top.

  18. When East meets Westpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Hull v Leeds (19:45 BST)

Aaron Connolly points in celebration of his goal for HullImage source, Getty Images

There's always a bit of spice when the East Riding meets the West, particularly when the game is a little more equal.

Hull City are certainly flying the east flag, with an eastern feel too under Turkish owner Acun Ilicali, who has backed Liam Rosenior and the results have been positive.

Three wins and one defeat from six keeps the Tigers in the play-offs at this embryonic stage, with Ozan Tufan and summer signing Aaron Connolly contributing four goals apiece.

Leeds have the same amount of goals scored, conceded and number of defeats but they've won two and drawn three instead.

The signs though are that Daniel Farke's methods are sinking in. Sunday's 3-0 humbling of Millwall, in front of a traditionally partisan crowd, was evidence of the character in their squad, and Joel Piroe seems to have found his feet too.

Should be tasty at the MKM.

  19. Something has to give in Carrow Road battlepublished at 19:35 British Summer Time 20 September 2023

    Norwich v Leicester (20:00 BST)

    Image caption,

Norwich are aiming to make their Carrow Road home a fortress this season, but this is their sternest test yet.

Norwich v Leicester is another of those games, like Watford v West Brom, which has the feel of a bottom-half battle in the Premier League.

Perhaps that is why it has top-billing, or at the very least the 20:00 kick-off slot tonight.

It's been more than a dozen years since these two met outside the top-flight and in that 2010/11 season Norwich did the double over Leicester, edging 4-3 and 3-2 wins.

Perhaps unsurprisingly these two are among the early front-runners in the second-tier, with Leicester seeking the win to reclaim the second-spot which was snatched from them last night by Norwich’s upwardly-mobile East Anglian neighbours Ipswich.

The Canaries could leapfrog the third-placed Foxes with a win, which would extend their perfect home start to four wins from four.

Leicester have begun the campaign with six wins in seven in all competitions and have won all three away league games – taking the lead inside 30 seconds on Friday on their way to a 4-1 thumping of Southampton.

At least one of these perfect starts is about to be spoiled.

Preston continue to set the pace in the Championship after coming from behind to win at home to Birmingham on Tuesday night - their sixth straight win.

Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson drilled the only goal to make it four away wins from four as Ipswich went second with a 1-0 victory at Southampton, who slipped to 11th after a third straight defeat.

Bristol City rose to fifth after a fast start in a thumping 4-1 win at home to Plymouth while Kian Etete’s late goal secured the points for Cardiff in a 3-2 win at home to Coventry to send the Bluebirds up to ninth.

Lyndon Dykes salvaged a point for QPR with a stoppage-time leveller at home to winless Swansea while Middlesbrough stopped the rot with a 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday in the battle of the bottom two, who remain without a win between them.
