  1. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 4-1 Huddersfieldpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    Jordan James (90mins +4)

That is one heck of a strike from Birmingham substitute Jordan James.

His long range effort is smashed into the bottom corner.

I wonder if the Huddersfield keeper Lee Nicholls even saw that coming.

  2. goal

GOAL: Plymouth 0-2 Millwallpublished at 21:44 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    George Saville (90+7 mins)

Millwall make the points safe deep in injury time through George Saville.

Zian Flemming goes in hard on Tyreik Wright - shoving the defender aside - to win the ball back in the final third and gets into the Plymouth box.

He throws in a couple for stepovers before teeing up Saville on the edge of the box and the midfielder curls home.

Argyle want a foul - and it looked one.

Kieran McKenna has Portman Road bouncing following promotion from League One last season.

Hull City suffer a first defeat in nine league outings.

  5. FULL-TIMEpublished at 21:38 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    Middlesbrough 2-0 Cardiff

Second half goals from Isaiah Jones and Emmanuel Latte Lath give Middlesbrough a well deserved win at Riverside.

It's Boro's third win in a row and they extend their unbeaten run to four games in the Championship and jump up to 16th in the table.

Disappointment for Cardiff who created very few chances and once they fell behind failed to rally any kind of response - they drop to 7th.

Ipswich Town claim a penalty as Omari Hutchinson goes down under a challenge in the area.

But referee Matt Donohue waves play on. The result is already beyond doubt.

Into the final few minutes of the 90 in Devon as Plymouth try to rescue a point.

Millwall roll on a couple of subs as they look to manage the closing stages and seal a second away win of the campaign.

    Plymouth 0-1 Millwall

Just over 10 minutes to go at Home Park and it looks like it might not be Plymouth's night.

Finn Azaz and Ryan Hardie combine to get into the Millwall box but Azaz slips before he can get his shot off.

  10. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 2-0 Cardiffpublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    Emmanuel Latte Lath (84 mins)

Cool as you like from Emmanuel Latte Lath.

The substitute accelerates onto the ball just inside the Cardiff penalty area.

Holds it up, sets himself, side foots the ball past the keeper.

    League One update

More misery for Cheltenham now. Curtis Davis has been sent off and Jack Marriott has made it 2-0 Fleetwood.

A thriller in Bolton as Josh Sheehan puts Wanderers ahead of Stevenage again. It's 3-2.

Ronnie Edwards has scored for Peterborough at Carlisle, who are heading fourth as things stand.

James Collins had given Derby breathing space at Blackpool but Kenny Dougall has got the Tangerines back in it.

    West Brom 1-0 Sheff Wed

Almost an hour gone at The Hawthorns and the Baggies are still on top as they seek a second goal.

But while it's still 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday have hope...

However, the Owls have only scored five goals in the Championship this season.

Tigers boss Liam Rosenior has made a triple change in response to that third goal.

Sean McLoughlin, Greg Doherty and Dogukan Sinik are on, with Tyler Morton, Jean-Michael Seri and Aaron Connolly heading off.

Hull's unbeaten run will end at eight league matches.

    League Two update

Tyrese Shade has given Swindon some hope at Notts County, bringing it back to 3-1 to Notts, the league leaders.

Forest Green could be done at Stockport, 2-0 down and now a man down after Marcel Lavinier's red card.

Andy Cook has drawn Bradford level at Tranmere, who started the night second bottom after four straight defeats. It's 1-1 on Merseyside.

Sutton, bottom of the table, are heading for a fifth-straight defeat after two quick goal from Matt Smith and Kelly N'Mai for Salford.

  15. goal

GOAL: Ipswich 3-0 Hullpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    Marcus Harness (65 mins)

Ipswich Town are heading to the top of the Championship in style.

Marcus Harness makes it 3-0 to the hosts, and surely there will be no way back for Hull City.

George Hirst scampers on to a long ball forward and picks it up just before the byline on the left.

He heads into the box and pulls it back to the edge of the six-yard box, where Harness is on hand to poke home in front of a couple of defenders.

Ipswich goals are guaranteed at Portman Road - that's now 52 for the Tractor Boys in their past 15 home league games.

Huddersfield are robbed of possession on the halfway line and Birmingham make them pay.

On the counter, Koji Miyoshi links up with Siriki Dembele who gets his second goal of the game with a cool, low finish.

    Ipswich 2-0 Hull

Ipswich left-back Leif Davis has set up both goals this evening and comes close to one of his own at Portman Road.

The hosts work a short corner well before Davis sees his low drive from a narrow angle saved.

    Stoke 0-1 Southampton

Back under way at the bet365 Stadium and Southampton's Stuart Armstrong should have scored his second.

His downward header - from a Carlos Alcaraz cross - somehow hits a Stoke defender's boot and is flicked over the bar.

  19. goal

GOAL: Plymouth 0-1 Millwallpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 3 October 2023

    Zian Flemming (59 mins)

The Lions take the lead against the run of play.

A long ball downfield is flicked on to Duncan Watmore, who has found a pocket of space in the middle of the pitch.

He threads the ball through the Argyle defence to Zian Flemming, who dinks the ball past the onrushing keeper.

Great composure from the Dutchman for his second goal of the season. Can Millwall hold on for a first win in three?

    League One update

Oxford United are heading top of the table as things stand after Ciaron Brown scores their second against Shrewsbury, who are now playing with 10 men after Joe Anderson's red card.

But Portsmouth are trying to rally and have an equaliser through Colby Bishop at home to Wycombe. It's 1-1.

Derby, going for three wins in a row, lead at Blackpool, who haven't won their previous two, with Korey Smith breaking the deadlock in the north west.

Jack Iredale has put Bolton back in front at home to Stevenage, they lead 2-1.

And the points could be safe for Barnsley as Max Watters makes it 3-0 Tykes at Cambridge United.
