Every time Martin Boyle and Elie Youan get the ball on the flanks you feel they can do damage for Hibs. On the flip side, Duk has really grown in to things and has started to pull the strings a bit for Aberdeen.

It's a tight game that you just start to feel will be settled by one moment of quality - or a mistake.

  3. HALF-TIME Hearts 0-1 Motherwellpublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

Oh dear, Hearts fans. It's not been a very good seven days. After losing dismally to Dundee and getting gubbed in Greece, they're now trailing to Motherwell at home.

There's been a complete lack of urgency from the hosts in attack, while Stuart Kettlewell's side have shown why they're up near the top of the table.

Picking Hearts off on the counter, they produced a fantastic flowing move to go ahead, with Callum Slattery adding the final touch.

Steven Naismith and/or Frankie McAvoy need to produce quite the half-time team talk.

  4. HALF-TIME Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernianpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

No goals but a fair amount of goalmouth action so far at Pittodrie.

The game is crying out for a breakthrough as both these teams seek their first league win of the season.

    Heart of Midlothian 0-1 Motherwell

Peter Haring picks out Nathaniel Atkinson in the box, the Australian is totally unmarked... But his touch is poor before he clips into the middle for a Motherwell defender to clear.

  6. Defences on top, but for how long?published at 15:49 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

    BBC Scotland at Pittodrie

This has been an enthralling game in a scrappy kind of way. Hibs have had the better of things, but the Dons are coming back into it. Both defences look like they can be got at. No goals, but I have a feeling it won't stay that way.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

More work for David Marshall to do as Bojan Miovski prods the ball goalwards from the 18-yard line. It's that stage of the game were strikers just want to get one on target.

  8. Postpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Great defensive work from Hibs to snuff out an Aberdeen attack.

Bojan Miovski lines up a sidefoot shot but it's blocked by Josh Campbell and James Jeggo's fancy footwork under pressure sets up a Paul Hanlon clearance.

Moments later, Graeme Shinnie has an effort saved by David Marshall.

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Heart of Midlothian 0-1 Motherwell

Peter Haring is a very lucky boy. The ball clearly strikes the arm of the Hearts midfielder but, after a VAR check, play goes on.

    Bit of a surprise that...

  10. CLOSE!published at 15:40 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Heart of Midlothian 0-1 Motherwell

Callum Slattery, behave yourself. He robs Nathan Atkinson in the Motherwell half and then takes aim and fires.

It's going, it's going... it's gone JUST wide. From 50 yards? 60? Just outrageous.

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Martin Boyle's dangerous low ball is blocked by the Aberdeen defence before a sliding Josh Campbell can get a touch after an enterprising run from Elie Youan.

The busy Youan then has a tame shot from the left that Kelle Roos gathers.

  13. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Elie Youan's pace gets him in on goal as Slobodan Rubezic struggles to keep up with the Hibs forward.

The angle is narrow and Kelle Roos gets down smartly to save.

GOAL Hearts 0-1 Motherwellpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Callum Slattery

What an incredible goal that is! A long-range diagonal finds Slattery, who plays a brilliant one-two with Blair Spittal to go one-on-one and he finishes coolly.

There'a a hold-up, the flag went up quickly... But the replays show he's well onside The goal will stand!

If that's Kettleball, sign me up.

Not an awful lot going on to excite the fans at Pittodrie. The action is swinging back and forth but neither goalkeeper has been really tested.

  16. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Motherwell

Hearts have started to work the ball a bit better in the final third. There's a Motherwell howler at the back, and it allows Lawrence Shankland in behind... but his ball to Liam Boyce is poor! That was a chance.

Well break forward and Callum Slattery has time to cross. He drives it low but Zander Clark gets an important touch to loft it away from any advancing Steelmen.

  17. Postpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Motherwell

A few half-chances for both sides, not too much of note. Theo Bair looks dangerous on the break though.

Hearts have lumped the ball into the box a few times, but it isn't close enough to Lawrence Shankland.

  18. Postpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Moments after Hibs' Jimmy Jeggo is booked for breaking up an Aberdeen attack, the visitors are in behind the Dons defence again but Elie Youan gets the ball caught under his feet as he tries to chop inside and has to settle for a corner.

    Nothing doing from the corner...

  19. Postpublished at 15:18 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Aberdeen 0-0 Hibernian

Martin Boyle gets into the type of position Martin Boyle likes to get into and forces a save from Kelle Roos at the Aberdeen goalkeeper's near post, the Dutchman using his feet to block.

  20. Postpublished at 15:16 British Summer Time 3 September 2023

    Heart of Midlothian 0-0 Motherwell

Harry Paton clips Cammy Devlin about 25 yards from goal and it's a Hearts free-kick. This is Stephen Kingsley territory... but he's not playing, and the free-kick from Alex Lowry goes straight into the wall.

Motherwell go up the pitch and win a corner. Blair Spittal puts it onto the head of a flying Bevis Mugabi and forces Zander Clark to tip it acrobatically over the bar.
