  20. How did the British teams qualify?

    So how did we get here?

    The 32 teams in the group-stage draw include 12 automatic qualifiers, 10 Europa League play-off winners and 10 sides transferring from the Champions League play-offs or third qualifying round league path.

    Of the British sides, West Ham, we know, qualified as Conference League winners, while Liverpool and Brighton made it automatically after finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Premier League.

    Rangers had hoped to be in the draw for the Champions League but dropped into the Europa League after losing their play-off 7-3 on aggregate to PSV Eindhoven.
