    Newcastle 3-0 PSG

PSG manager Luis Enrique was picked out by the TV cameras wildly waving his arms after the third goal, trying desperately to impart some kind of instruction to his beleaguered men.

PSG have been poor. Newcastle have been excellent.

Fantastic ball in from Phil Foden, whipped from the left and Erling Haaland is stretching to meet it at the back post. Surely 2-1? No, the ball flies over.

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Newcastle winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is a night to remember. Sean Longstaff does so well. No one tracked him and it was a simple ball and a fantastic finish. He hits it hard and low.

Three-nil and you have got to say that has got to be game over.

    Sean Longstaff (51 mins)

THE GEORDIE BOYS ARE ALL AT IT!

Academy product Sean Longstaff finds space on the right of the box, beautifully played in by Kieran Tripper, and he lashes a low shot at goal.

Gigi Donnarumma should have saved it, but the ball squeezes under his body and into the roof of the net.

What dreams are made of for Longstaff.

  7. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Newcastle 2-0 PSG

PSG seem to have changed to a 4-3-3 for the second half, to mirror Newcastle's formation.

The visitors had no control in the first half with their two-man midfield.

  8. 'Newcastle will tire'published at 21:12 British Summer Time 4 October 2023

    Newcastle 2-0 PSG

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Newcastle winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It looks like they [PSG] have re-shaped the team a little bit. I think if Newcastle can get another goal then great but if not then after about an hour I think they will tire and there isn't a lot of quality to bring off the bench.

    RB Leipzig 1-1 Man City

Erling Haaland is up for a header but he has a lot of work to do and can only pretty much nod the ball back to the goalkeeper.

That equaliser has seen the atmosphere ramp up considerably. It feels like we've got a game on here.

Marquinhos is not having a good evening.

    Well who saw this coming?

First shot on target for RB Leipzig and they equalise. It starts with a loose pass in midfield by Jack Grealish and the hosts break. Loïs Openda is then sent away and he holds off a defender before tucking a shot in off the post.

Pep Guardiola has his head in his hands. He is clearly fuming at that goal.

    RB Leipzig 0-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage

Leipzig have attacking options on the bench and they need to look at getting on the ball more. They were very passive in the first-half and City dominated possession.

  19. 'Newcastle deserve the lead'published at 21:00 British Summer Time 4 October 2023

    HT: Newcastle 2-0 PSG

    Chris Waddle
Ex-Newcastle winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

They have deserved it. The effort and the commitment. The atmosphere is brilliant but the players have risen to the occasion.

The problem with PSG? Too many egos. They don't want to put in the hard work to win games like this. They all want to express their qualities but they don't want to do the hard work.

I wouldn't want to write them off as they have players who can change a game but whatever you say, Newcastle have been brilliant.
