Some of the last ditch defending from Manchester United has been very good but you've got to carry a threat.

Good sliding block by Bruno Fernandes to get in the way of Harry Kane's shot on the edge of the box.

Just the three additional minutes at the end of the first half.

Almost half time and Manchester United can be happy that they have limited Bayern Munich to few clear chances, but they need to offer more threat themselves. At the moment they don't look like they are playing a game they need to win.

There's no combination play. Poor Hojlund is up there on his own and he must be wondering when the opportunities are going to come.

I am not entirely sure what Harry Maguire was thinking as he came back on then.

He was obviously in discomfort and he was only either going to make it worse or end up in a race he could not win - or both.

Jonny Evans has vast experience but his fitness is not reliable. Erik ten Hag has gone for that option over Luke Shaw moving to centre half and Sergio Reguilon coming on.

Defensively, it is probably a wise choice.

Scott McTominay cuts out Kingsley Coman's pass on the edge of the Manchester United area and then sends Alejandro Garnacho away.

The winger charges all the way up the pitch and into the box but then runs into Dayot Upamecano, who calmly takes the ball from his feet and clears.

That's a massive blow for Manchester United. There's a lot to be admired about Harry Maguire after his days looked to be numbered.

Evans is on and he's no spring chicken.

Harry Maguire tries for about five seconds but he knows he can't continue, putting the ball out himself so he can go off.

A bit of treatment and a bit of a stretch and Harry Maguire is trying to play on here. He doesn't look comfortable, however.

Manchester United's Champions League campaign has been scarred by matches where they have had the initiative and contrived to lose it.

Against far superior opposition, United are holding their own tonight.

Can they find a way to win this one?

Bayern Munich are passing confidently on the edge of the Manchester United area as they try to work some space. The ball is worked to Kingsley Coman on the right but his cross deflects into André Onana's hands.

Dayot Upamecano tangles with Bruno Fernandes as the two clash going for a ball on the edge of the box. Upamecano wins out but his header bounces off the arm of Kim Min-jae but he didn't know much about it.
