Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel, speaking to TNT Sports: "It's one of the biggest stages in world football. It's the Champions League and the lights are on in Old Trafford."

On Harry Kane: "I'm not sure if that is possible because he's always hungry for goals. He's calm. Hopefully it brings a special performance out of him."

On Manchester United: "It's a very offensively dangerous team. They run into the gaps that you give them. They take a risk in the build-up. Sometimes you can can catch them."

Manchester United can take heart from their historical form against German sides at Old Trafford in their pursuit of a result tonight.

They are unbeaten in 11 matches against such opposition at home, with Bayern the last team to triumph there, winning 1-0 in the sides' 2000-01 quarter-final first leg.

Bayern went on to win the Champions League that year.

The Bayern Munich supporters sang a couple of cheeky songs earlier that were quite negative towards Manchester United.

The United fans in the corner close to the away support have responded with a reminder of that epic 1999 Champions League final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might not have been the greatest United manager but he will never be forgotten for that goal in the Nou Camp.

Old Trafford has been a happy hunting ground for Harry Kane. He has scored four goals in his last five appearances there and set up another two.

In total, he has been directly involved in nine goals in his last 11 competitive meetings against Manchester United.

It is fairly easy to work out how Manchester United qualify for the Champions League last-16.

United need to win and hope Copenhagen and Galatasaray draw. That is the only sequence of results that works for Erik ten Hag's men.

If United win they are assured of a Europa League place at least. If they draw and Copenhagen lose, they will also qualify for the Europa League.

However, if they draw and Galatasaray lose, they will be out of Europe as their head-to-head record against the Turkish side is one draw and one defeat.

Clearly, if United fail to win it would be their worst ever group stage performance 'beating' their disastrous 2005-06 campaign when they finished with six points and only scored in two matches.

    Thanks Em!

It is impossible not to think back to the 1999 Champions League final when these two teams face each other.

The stakes are nowhere near as high but Manchester United could do with another couple of heroes, plus a helping hand from the other game, as they look to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

A routine night all round there. Mikel Arteta will hope Mohamed Elneny's injury is nothing too serious but he was able to rotate some players and comes away with a draw.

In the other match, Lens nicked a late winner against Sevilla to confirm third-place in the table and will enter the Europa League knockout round play-offs.

We're moving on straight away to focus on the game at Old Trafford as Manchester United have an enormous match-up with Bayern Munich.

Gary Rose is hopping on to talk you through that one...

All over in Eindhoven and Group B's top two settle for a draw.

Arsenal are in the last 16 as group winners, PSV go through as runners-up.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    PSV Eindhoven 1-1 Arsenal

A huge chance for Arsenal to win it!

Leandro Trossard's shot from close range is palmed away before the rebound is fizzed well wide.

Big save from Walter Benítez in the final seconds.

  10. Lens restore lead late onpublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 December 2023

    Lens 2-1 Sevilla

Sevilla's grip on the Europa League appears to be over.

The seven-time winners are unlikely to be able to defend their crown this season as Lens hit them on the break with Angelo Fulgini restoring the French side's lead.

Sevilla need to beat Lens to leapfrog them up into third in Group B. They've got two minutes to score two goals.

Recruitment at Manchester United this summer was the easiest it could have ever been.

You could have had Harry Kane for £100 million and the other one was Declan Rice.

There's somehow six minutes added on and we're into the third of them.

Credit to both teams, they are through and there was nothing on the line, but this has been a decent game with plenty of quality.

If by any miracle United do pull it off, it looks like it'll have to be with the starting 11 looking at the bench. But would love to see a kid coming off the bench and making a name for themselves.

Oops. Gabriel misses the ball again and it rolls through to PSV substitute Guus Til.

He's only got Aaron Ramsdale to beat but the angle is tight and he drags the shot wide of the far post.

Ahh it was great build-up from Arsenal as they move it across the box from right to left.

Jakub Kiwior then cuts inside but his shot is poor and completely powerless.

PSV then break down the left but it comes to nothing.
