  1. HITS THE WOODWORK (TWICE!)published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

How did this not go in?!

Ajax striker Brian Brobbey hits both posts with a volley after the ball dribbles agonisingly across the line.

    Brighton, somehow, survive.

Returning left-back Pervis Estupinan was culpable there, showing his rustiness by dallying on the ball and being dispossessed before the cross to Brobbey was swung in.

If this is the 14th best team in France, imagine how good the other 13 are.

GOAL - Toulouse 3-1 Liverpoolpublished at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Frank Magri (76 mins)

Toulouse immediately get their two-goal lead back. Caoimhin Kelleher doesn't get a proper hand onto a low deflected cross and Frank Magri slots the ball home from close range.

    Actually scratch that...

  6. Postpublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-1 Liverpool

The hosts really looked in control a minute ago but that goal could change everything. We've seen what Liverpool can be like before when they get the wind in their sails.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

Heading towards do-or-die time for the home side. They need a goal and they need it quick.

Teenager Silvano Vos, whose mistake with a loose pass led to Brighton's first goal, is replaced by another midfielder, Benjamin Tahirovic.

  8. goal

GOAL - Toulouse 2-1 Liverpoolpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

Cristian Casseres own goal (74 mins)

    Calamity for the hosts.

A cross comes in and Toulouse's Cristian Casseres isn't even looking at the ball when it hits his shoulder and goes in.

    Remarkable lifeline for Liverpool.

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

Don't expect the Brighton reshuffle to result in the visitors dropping their level.

Roberto de Zerbi will not accept that.

The organisation and focus of the players remains the same, particularly as they defend a couple of Ajax set-pieces.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-0 Liverpool

Liverpool bring on Darwin Nunez for Cody Gakpo up front.

  11. Postpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-0 Liverpool

Liverpool putting a few crosses in but Les Violets defending them well. Mohamed Salah was offside here anyway.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

With the game fully in their control, Brighton decide it is time for Pervis Estupinan to get some minutes on his return from injury.

Striker Evan Ferguson is also summoned, with Mahmoud Dahoud and Ansu Fati - who scored the opening goal - making way.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-0 Liverpool

Toulouse bring off the lively Niklas Schmidt, who was booked early on, and Frank Magri comes on.

  14. Postpublished at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

Dutch legend Ronald Koeman, who currently manages the national team, watches on with a glum face and his arms folded.

    Does he not like this.

Next to him is Frank de Boer. Or is it Ronald de Boer? Oh I don't know. One of them anyway.

Luis Diaz cuts in from the left and swings a cross which goes over Mohamed Salah.

  16. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-0 Liverpool

Toulouse, who are one point above the Ligue 1 relegation zone, are starting to play like peak Barcelona here.

They have their second disallowed goal of the game as Niklas Schmidt slams home from an offside position.

  17. Postpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

Ajax keeper Diant Ramaj gets away with one.

Ramaj's heart must skip a beat when his pass out of his area is picked off by Kaoru Mitoma, only for the Brighton star to shank wide under pressure from a home defender.

    Massive let off.

  18. Postpublished at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Toulouse 2-0 Liverpool

Chance for Liverpool as the ball is cut back to Alexis Mac Allister on the edge of the box but the celtic-named Argentine's shot is deflected wide.

  19. Postpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2023

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

This would have been an outrageous goal!

Brighton's Pascal Gross takes an inswinging corner from the right and almost catches out Ajax keeper Diant Ramaj, who is forced into emergency action by palming over the bar.

Did Gross mean that? Robbie Savage thinks not. I'm going to give the Brighton man the benefit of the doubt.

    Ajax 0-2 Brighton

Confidence oozing through Brighton now. Very difficult to see a way back for this young Ajax side.
