If Villa lose and Legia win, their final ranking will be determined by overall goal difference, then overall goals scored, then overall away goals scored (which would favour Villa).

Union St-Gilloise can only reach the knockout round play-offs as group runners-up if they beat Liverpool and Toulouse lose to LASK; even then, their final ranking would be dependent on the results of the two matches, as outlined above.

Aston Villa's top scorer Ollie Watkins said in yesterday's pre-game news conference that he was expecting a "tough match".

“The experience of coming away to stadiums in Europe has always been difficult," the striker said.

“Like the boss said, our first game against Legia, they made it very difficult and we didn’t come away with a victory.

“So, it’s not as easy as people think to come to places like this and win.

“We’ll be approaching the game with a strong mindset and respecting everyone coming into the game."
