Ayr United manager Lee Bullen tells BBC Scotland: "I thought in the first half that we were well in the game.

"When we lose the second goal we just had a mad 20/25 minutes where we just didn't do enough.

"We've just got to hold our hands up, we've got to do better defensively."

Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan tells BBC Scotland: "Delighted [with the result], as you would expect.

"We had to defend for large parts of the first half but we started brightly.

"Our goalkeeper was called upon and came up with some good saves.

"To come here and score four, this is a difficult place to come to, so we're absolutely delighted."

Despite Brian Graham giving Thistle an early lead inside the first two minutes, it felt as if the game was keenly poised at the interval.

The visitors obviously thought otherwise as they blew Ayr away in the second half through a sensational Steven Lawless double.

His first was a long-range peach of a strike with his second of similar quality from closer in.

Tomi Adeloye showed his clinical capabilities to score with his first touch of the game after Lawless lofted the ball through for him.

The second and third goals were so important for Partick Thistle and Steven Lawless is my man of the match tonight.

It would be a mere consolation now but Jamie Murphy comes close to cancelling out Thistle's clean sheet.

Despite having little of note to deal with in this half, Jamie Sneddon once again denies Ayr a goal, though.

Jamie Murphy tries to conjure up some attacking intent for the hosts but it's simply not happening as his edge-of-the-area pass is easily cut out.

Charlie Albinson has played a blinder tonight, but he'd have to clone himself 10 times over to stop that from going in.

He opens up his body just outside the box and tries to bend one all the way out and back in with his left foot but it zips narrowly past the post.

You'd imagine an on-loan Killie player would like a goal here of all places.

A tame Logan Chalmer's effort is easily gathered by Jamie Sneddon as the sides size each other up again.

Cagey to say the least as the action resumes...
