Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom on women's midfielder Maddy Cusack, who has died at the age of 27: "First and foremost, everyone's thoughts are with Maddy's friends and family.

"She has been a big part of everything in my time here. She's a senior figure in the women's team and in the media team. It's tough and we need to make sure everyone is OK at the club and we all support each other.

"There are plans [for a tribute] going off now but we want to be respectful to Maddy's family to make sure they are involved. As much as we want to show our respects we want to make sure the family lead on that.

"Steve [chief execjutive Stephen Bettis] called me yesterday and it knocked me back a bit, I'll admit.

"As much as we are preparing for a huge game and wanting to get on with everything it has affected a lot of people and in different ways.

"Maddy has been so close to so many people at this club. We look after everyone here but, I'll say it again, it's about her family."

  5. 'Alvarez is giving a lot of good things to us, that's why he's playing'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Man City v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Finally from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, he praised Argentina striker Julian Alvarez, who has started all five league games so far, scoring twice. He also scored twice in the Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade in midweek.

"He's always had good behaviour - playing or not playing, being world champion or not being world champion. On and off the pitch he is the same," said Guardiola.

"He has the perfect dose (amount) of disappointment if he doesn't play, but if you are like that you'll always have an opportunity. Last season we had Ilkay [Gundogan] and Kevin [de Bruyne] sharp and in a good moment, and right now, because of injuries or whatever reason [Alvarez] is giving a lot of good things to us. That's why he's playing, but he has to continue for many games.

"There will be games where he does not play and he has to be ready for that. When the players come back from the injuries then they have to battle and fight for the best position, and play the games."

  6. It’s just the beginning - Guardiolapublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Man City v Nottingham Forest (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

On Saturday Manchester City hope to make it six wins from six at the start of the season, something they also managed in Pep Guardiola's first season in charge in 2016-17, but the City boss said there is a long way to go.

"When we arrived here seven or eight years ago we made six from six and we finished third. It’s just the beginning," he said.

"It’s important to get points because the competition is hard, some of our opponents don’t miss much points, but it's just the beginning."

  7. 'Experience makes you grow'published at 14:32 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Arsenal v Tottenham (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on facing Arsenal in the north London derby: "People have given me an indication of how they feel about this game and that's great.

"I've been involved in derbies and one pretty significant one [Old Firm derby]. You understand what it means to the fans. They are a very good footballing side and they have strengthened this year. You can see there is a real belief within them and playing at their place will be difficult for us."

On some players at Tottenham making their first appearance in the North London Derby: "We have quite a few that haven't played in this fixture. It's not just that it's a derby and away from home but it's the challenge of overcoming a strong opponent.

"As much as you want to talk about it, it's the experience that makes you grow.

"In these fixtures you let the players go out and hopefully express themselves in the right way, I don't want to put too many restrictions around them."

  8. 'Still trying to replace club's greatest player'published at 14:28 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Arsenal v Tottenham (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on coping without Harry Kane: "There is a risk of feeling that void from the start, that's the reality.

"It's a fairly significant figure on and off the field. We tried to, as a collective, focus on the road ahead and the team we want to be.

"I've been pleased with how the lads have tackled the task of trying to be an attacking threat from all areas so people don't see a glaring gap, but we're still trying to replace arguably the greatest player this club has ever seen.

"We've managed it well so far."

  9. 'Spurs will need to adjust'published at 14:25 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Arsenal v Tottenham (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on not being in Europe: "We would have preferred to have a Champions League game this week to prepare for a derby but that's just how it is.

"We'll adjust for the fact we didn't have a top level game this week to prepare for this one."

  10. 'Strong week of training'published at 14:22 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Arsenal v Tottenham (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on team news: ""Health wise, everyone else from last week is fine and ready to go.

"We still have two or three who are a bit longer term but everyone else is okay.

"It's been a good week, training wise. Last week, we only really had one session altogether after the internationals got in so we had a full week of training, a strong week of training."

  11. 'Perisic will come back stronger'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Arsenal v Tottenham (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Ivan Perisic's ACL injury, which is expected to rule him out for the season: "It's disappointing for Ivan more than anyone else. It's one of those innocuous things that can happen sometimes.

"I've only worked with him for a little while but you can see why he's played for some of the biggest clubs, he's the ultimate pro.

"It's disappointing for us too because he's been important to us. He has a level head and has been significant in all our games so far.

"He is very strong willed and I have no doubt he'll come back for club and country to reach the levels before his injury."

Brighton v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

On-loan Barcelona midfielder Ansu Fati made his first Brighton start in Thursday's defeat by AEK Athens. Albion boss Roberto de Zerbi said: "I was pleased with Ansu’s performance. I think he played well.

  13. Seagulls 'can't suffer' from weight of expectationpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Brighton v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Before Sunday's game with Bournemouth, Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi says his players now have to cope with raised expectations after qualifying for Europe.

He said: "Bournemouth are better than last season. We have to play at our best if we want to win but it's difficult for us, for Aston Villa, for West Ham.

"We wanted to reach Europe and now we have to push. We have to be proud to play like we did yesterday [against AEK Athens]. We can lose the game but after defeat we have to start with the same passion, attitude and pride because we have to win many games.

"If Brighton beat Manchester United and Newcastle, we know we have a lot of expectation but we have to be honest with ourselves, to be proud because we deserved to win [those games] and reach Europe. But nothing changes, we have to focus on the players and the quality of play. We can't suffer from the expectation."

  14. 'We co-operate on those matters'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on reports of staff feeling concerned about the influence of his agent Kees Vos: "There can't be [concerns]. We make very good agreements about it from the start and how we co-operate in that matter.

"For player decisions and transfers it is 50/50, the club represented by John Murtough, and me, so cannot be any distraction."

  15. 'I know my players'published at 13:58 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Burnley v Man Utd (Sat, 20:00 BST)

  16. 'We will be competitive'published at 13:54 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on facing Aston Villa: "We didn't deserve to be involved in Europe and Villa have a very good squad. They are prepared to compete in the Conference League.

"At Bournemouth we had only 15 players and had to use three or four players from the academy.

"We will be competitive when we arrive in this game. It's a very important game for us and we need to win.

"We have been playing well but we need to be more clinical. We create plenty of chances but we just haven't scored goals."

  17. Brighton must 'adapt to fixture demands'published at 13:51 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Brighton v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton have a new problem to contend with this season, balancing their league campaign with regular midweek football having qualified for Europe for the first time.

Boss Roberto de Zerbi said: "We are not used to playing this many games and we have to change what we put inside everyone because we have a tight squad and we have to adapt - the coaches, the players, everyone.

"We have to organise for not only one game but three games. We can't put the focus only on [the weekend]. It's totally different. This is my focus."

  18. Seagulls 'have to find another leader' in Dunk absencepublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Brighton v Bournemouth (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Brighton & Hove Albion

With Lewis Dunk set to be out this weekend, boss Roberto de Zerbi said that Brighton "have to find another leader".

"Pascal [Gross] and Danny [Welbeck] are big leaders," he added. "Adam Webster is one of the best leaders in the dressing room. When he plays, he plays in a good way.

"We have a lot of young players and they have to progress in leadership. Billy Gilmour and Pervis Estupinan have the potential to be great leaders."

  19. 'Jackson needs to be clever'published at 13:47 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on Nicolas Jackson's discipline after picking up four yellow cards: "I talked to him today. We had a meeting with him and also Enzo [Fernandez].

"For a striker to pick up four yellow cards from talking to the officials, it shouldn't happen. It would be ok for different actions but not for that.

"He is young and he needs to improve, he will be a fantastic player but he needs time. He needs to be calm and relaxed in front of goal and it will arrive.

"He needs to be clever to not protest to the referees. Maybe it's his normal behaviour on the pitch or maybe it's because the rules changed this season. He has come from Spain and here it is more sensitive this season.

"Hopefully, he doesn't get another one on Sunday because he will be suspended."

  20. 'Players really care'published at 13:45 British Summer Time 22 September 2023

Chelsea v Aston Villa (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino on whether he is frustrated with their start to the season: "No. If we talk about performances we have performed well.

"We are missing many key players as well. I'm not frustrated but I'm disappointed because many teams with less have scored more.

"We need to keep pushing and playing to find the right things. I'm happy in the way the players felt after Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest, they really cared about performing better to try and win games."
